      The new tools are kind of finicky. They actually work fairly well in specific circumstances. I think with these tools you will need to know their limitations and well as what they can do. There is a happy middle ground somewhere. People have got to take those limitations into account when using the AI removal tools. I see the same thing when people first start using curves. They make such wide moves with curves and then complain the tool is worthless. It is not until they discover small minute changes are the key that they discover how powerful the tool is.

      First, do you have photoshop installed? Second, make sure you have at least two (2) photos highlighted in you LR filmstrip. Finally, please check the menu: PHOTO> Edit in> the menu selection is at the very bottom of the loooong menu list. Just confirm you don’t have the layers selection at the very bottom of the EDIT IN submenu at the end of that long menu. There is a way to do this manually. That is really weird. Does it give you a reason or code why it won't install? Could you check your hard drive and see if it is already installed and maybe that is tripping it up. Check you MacHD>applications. and see if you see Lightroom listed there. If things look good there, I would call Adobe support and have them take a whack at it. If you have the Adobe Lightroom or Photo subscription, support is at no cost.

    • @easternshorephotoinstruction
      @easternshorephotoinstruction Před měsícem

      Thanks for your note and question. The boost slider is to boost your bokeh. If you don’t have much or any bokeh in your photo, you really wont see much effect when moving the slider. The best thing to do is to find a photo that has noticeable bokeh and then crank the boost slider up and back. Then you will see the change. Typically most photos don’t have much bokeh so you won’t see much difference when using the slider. But when you do have a good representation of bokeh you will notice the changes. Also, try it with different bokeh types. Some show up more prominently than others when using the boost slider. Thanks for the question. I hope the answer helps you out.

    So now I have watched 5 of your videos and noticed a consistent theme - you make use of the "mask/masking" tool/feature often. I now understand why. Your comment that people often use tools globally is so true because many YT videos talk in those terms. While there are times for global use, the power of selective masking so CREATIVELY POWERFUL. With proper selective use I am now seeing how to effectively use other LR tools WITH the masking tool.....I need to start thinking "locally" when using LR tool/features and get out of the global thinking in order to make truly spectacular, popping, interesting print

      @@easternshorephotoinstruction I just discovered your channel last week. I’ve been replaying while I work on my photos. Your videos are super useful and practical. You are teaching people how to salvage photos that we think are no good.

    Excellent thorough review over other YT videos. You covered everything in depth and loved extremely helpful hints at the end about using AI over an existing mask. One very important thing to note: EACH time AI is used ADOBE takes away one (1) credit. We all start with 250 credits/month. Unused is not rolled over to next month. When you exceed 250 credits you must pay for each AI use.

    The video is great. Generative AI, not so much. And all the false flagging it does makes me want to abandon Adobe. They need to fix all their program's bugs before adding dozens of new gimmicky features.

      Thanks. I know what you mean. I was processing some photos today and I could not get the gen AI in LR to do what I wanted. I needed up moving to PS. Granted I was asking it to do a big move, it wasn't a complex task. ButPS didn't have any issues with it. I guess only time will tell how this thing goes.
