The way you did when you picked Riolu in the personality quiz & let Munchlax be your partner was so perfect. That's the way how I've been doing ever since. Other times, I pick Vulpix & let Phanpy be my partner. In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, I pick Axew & I let Pikachu be my partner. Hopefully you might do the same. In Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, I pick Pikachu & I let Riolu become my partner. You could do the same in that game as well.

Part of the reason i just couldn't get into XD was that the character designs felt like they doubled down from the original, and they were too ugly.
