I had no idea Wilford Bremley flew B-17s and faked his death.

I was a B-52 aircraft commander in the D and H model; with that said, I still stand in awe of the aircraft that flew the Flying Fortress in harm's away. Those heros were truly THE GREATEST GENERATION!!! I pray for their eternal peaceful rest every night.

I had the pleasure to walk through "Sentimental Journey"'s fuselage while she landed in Penticton BC a few years ago. Tight chambers I'd say. No wonder the crew had some bad experiences over Germany in WWII.

I don't think it can be said enough times about the courage those boys had.

The US sent them to their deaths in these obsolete 1930s rattletraps. The RAF quickly replaced their no good bombers. But the USAAF just built more and sent more kids to die over Germany.

You all hear the whistling sound the prop makes? Thats why the Corsair is nicknamed Whistling Death.

Imagine a carrier deck full of Corsairs and Hellcats startup together, revving the engine and take off one by one.. what a beautiful day.

I wonder what it looked and sounded like when hundreds of these bombers would fill the sky.. Amazing technology. My dad was a mechanic in England during WWII and worked on the Rolls Royce Merlin and Bristol Hercules engines of the Halifax heavy bomber.

In 2010 I went to Air Show in Willoughby, Ohio called “Gathering of Eagles” and for $400.00 I was able to fly in a B-17 called YANKEE LADY, it was very emotional because my Uncle Norman was a waist gunner on a B-17, Our Grandparents really knew how to build things that lasted.!
