    2:32, It is known as "The Disputation of Barcelona" (July 20-24, 1263). It was held at the royal palace of King James I of Aragon. The debate was with the Converso and apostate Pablo Christiani. Three points were discussed: 1. Whether the Messiah had appeared or not 2. Whether the Messiah is divine or human 3. Whether the Jews or the Christians held the true faith Maimonides/Nachmanidies/Rambam won the debate! King James was so impressed that awarded the Rambam with 600 gold coins. The most impressive thing was the King himself attended the synagogue on the Sabbath after the debate and addressed the Jewish congregants there, a thing unheard of during the Middle Ages.

    20:24 this atmosphere of transfer and the way Benny frames the Ethnic Cleaning is so terrible. It’s akin to Hol*c*st denial. Oh you see Hitler had “logical reason”. Just because you don’t want natives in your colonial State doesn’t make it ok to ethnically cleans them.

  • @littlemac1208
    @littlemac1208 Před měsícem

    10:14 to frame it as against an “Jewish” state is wrong. It was against a foreign, colonial state that happened to be Jewish. Any native population would resist this and the Zionist wrote that the natives would resist in their very early writings. Benny loves to make a case from based off excluded facts.

    • @littlemac1208
      @littlemac1208 Před měsícem

      @@aiinesk that’s a tiny tiny part of the framing yes. Doesn’t matter if it was a Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Italian, Chinese etc state. If that state had been saying they wanted to whole of the land and had been violent ethnicity cleansing the land for 6 months then the surrounding Arab states would also send in “armies” to defend the natives. Even framing the small, ill equipped, volunteer militias the Arabs mustered in defense of the ongoing ethnic cleansing is framing. It’s framing to talk about the religious aspects without mentioning the Jewish and Christian aspects to the conflict. He leaves out much detail to frame the conflict to please Zionist.

    • @aiinesk
      @aiinesk Před měsícem

      @littlemac1208 I don't see any framing here. Everyone knows Israel is a Jewish state. If someone says Jewish state, you know it's Israel. If it had been an Islamic or Arab state, its relationship with the surrounding states would have been different. Both Jews and Arabs wanted to have the whole land. The Jews eventually accepted the UN decision to divide it between two parties. The Arabs didn't. Morris explains why and what happened as a result of these decisions. One can see it as a just war, support the Arabs' decision to reject the partition plan and fight the Jews. I personally think that both nations should have their own state.

    57:20 "Arroba" - 15Kg - is used in livestock trade. It's a unit used to measure the weight of animals. I consider Bolsonaro to have cognitive impairment. I don't say he's dumb because I really think it's a psychiatric problem. I consider Lula's contribution to the skin color divide in Brazil to be more damaging and it was done for political advertisement. The "racial" quota system has been replaced by a socioeconomical quota system. The "racial" quota system still exists in the legislation but the socioeconomical quota legislation suplanted - on de facto legal effects - the first legislation. I do take pride in the tolerance and respect in Brazil - it was praised by Albert Einstein and E.W.B. du Bois. I do know it's a goal and not a reality but we are closer to the goal than the US is, for instance. I'll later post links to two texts, one by economist Carlos Lessa and another by the geographer Milton Santos. I'll also post the two letters published in newspapers at the time the quota law was being discussed in Congress - one supporting and another against the legislation. To "pull the embers beneath my sardine" - as the local saying goes - I'll now say that Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil signed the letter against the then proposed legislation. I really liked the lecture - learned a lot! Thanks for posting the video! NOTE: Evangelicals in Brazil are not like the ones in the US. Some churches are clearly in the business of making money and those are the ones reprented in Congress.
