I used to live in Wolverhampton and sm familiar with the areas shown here. The industry has changed dramatically since the Nineties and the Noughties. Two things have virtually eradicated street prostitution. First is the police targeting the punters. more for ideological than practical reasons but it meant the punters could (if they didn't have already) gain a criminal record. That is still a powerful deterrent even today. Second the industry has itself changed where there's website like Viva St . A working girl can get a pad, advertise herself,f for about a tenner a week and stop the need for walking round Horseley Fields , Park Fields, All Saints and the like. There is also a digital 'scent" left by the punters so in case of assault etc they are far more likely to get caught. Of course none of that makes it entirely safe but it's a lot safer than it was. There are very few if any working girls on the beat in Wolverhampton these days.

I remember being in the Royal Hospital A&E the one time. Had an accident at work, stepped on a nail, went through by boot and foot. Waiting to be seen, girls we’re coming into A&E pestering all the men One of the triage nurses said it was quite common! Police were always in attendance there! Hospital has long since been demolished now though

the smell in the bike shop is amazing. all that chrome too, The Golden Palace, lived here all my life, wouldn't want to live anywhere else, had some decent bands in Civic Centre back in the 70's, The Who, Mott the Hoople, Hawkwind to name but a few.

Alright Bob - I grew up in Wolverhampton during the video nasty era where there was a video rental shop on every street corner in the early 1980’s. It was all unregulated for a while then and rightly or wrongly I got to see a load of great cult movies between the age of 9-13yrs and continued to do so throughout the 80’s although a lot of films were heavily censored and even banned by the tories in about 1983. I saw The Warriors when I was about 10yrs old and it’s remained one of my fave films ever since. So much so I visited Coney Island when I went to NYC about 10yrs ago and - low-and-behold - I saw a guy walking around Coney Island wearing the scarlet leather waist jacket of The Warriors! I had to stop him and tell him how cool the movie is - he ran a Warriors fan club and was even making mini movies with his mates set in the years after 1979. The mini films are online someplace. He showed me and my wife a few other locations and I got to go on the Wonder Wheel amusement ride featured in the opening seconds of the film. I regret massively not seeing the cast at that exhibition in I think the Edgbaston cricket stadium. I think I was working away and could not get the time off work. I should’ve skived - that’s what a Warrior would’ve done!! lol

Hi Bob, nice video and thanks for sharing. I can't remember being with you that night but it sounded awesome. Once I started courting I stopped going up the top and seeing my mates which is one of my biggest regrets! I used to love hanging out with the gang, we were all harmless even though we may have looked a bit intimidating as a group at the times. I will be always grateful to John & Ange for letting us use their back garden as our gang headquarters lol. They were a decent couple. I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had Bell’s palsy twice. Once when I was 14 and second time at 17. I am 20 yearsold now. Ive fought through serious depression. Covid lockdown made things worse. Im still fighting to be the best version of my self since. Its permanent in my life now. I am also running now because I gain intense weight because of my depression. I am feeling abit better now… with that being said. Bells Palsy depression needs to be more aware. Alot of people have suicidal thoughts at the lowest points. But because its not recognised enough its not taken seriously.
