    Fair warning to all who own this beautiful pistol: the take-down lever on the left side is a known failure point. The lever is merely press fitted to the pin that rotates the slide block. The lever can essentially loosen slightly, and when you turn it downward, it will not fully lower the slide block inside the frame. This will prevent you from being able to lift the slide up and off the frame. You will know you have this problem when A) you can't seem to get the slide off even though the lever is all the way down and B) the take-down lever will not fully return to its up position parallel to the slide. Sig has not always been super helpful in fixing this unless you can prove you are the original owner. I fixed it on my P232 by forcing the lever back up to its closed position (parallel to the slide), then carefully using a center punch to punch a deep dimple into the exact center of the take-down lever pin. This moves just enough metal to cause the pin to expand into the lever to better secure it. It's not a perfect solution, but it is a solution. I love my P232!

    Alan, great video! Thank you. My question is, at 14:17 when you put the slide back on, did you experience the slide hanging up on the frame at all? (It looks like a video edit at that point, so made me curious). The slide on my newly-purchased CW380 catches somewhere in relation to the frame. The slide stops, or hangs up, about 1/2” from the back. Thanks again!

    Sorry your shop closed it was a go to place for help. You helped my wife select her first pistol. The revolver you are showing in the video I have and sadly has been a safe queen. I was interested particularly in your comment that heavy weight bullets recoil less in this firearm. I need ammo now and am recoil sensitive. What weight bullet is best for lower recoil and a good self defense round? I remember you got sick and hope you are better.

    I mainly use it on my magazines. Strike Hold is a Dielectric and excellent repelling water on electronic and wiring. As a lubricant especially in sandy environments, but needs to be reapplied more often than some gun oils. Drawback is the smell and if you get it on your hands? Takes a while for it to go away. Still prefer it over nitro solvent and Eezox which is chlorinated hydrocarbon product.

    I own the PPS mod 1, same as yours. It shoots everything I have tried, even every reload with bullets I cast - the reloaded ammo size measurements have to be right though. I like the gun, it is very reliable. There is a magazine disconnect that is easy to remove. The only thing I don't like about the design is that the gun will not function without the grip back straps installed - there is a tiny piece of each back strap that must be engaged, if this piece ever snaps the gun is disabled until you replace the back strap with an unbroken one. The gun comes with 2 different sized back straps, neither of which shows any sign of breaking after several years of use, but I don't understand why Walther would design the gun that way - it seems to me to add a possible point of failure unnecessarily.

  • @deandeann1541
    @deandeann1541 Před 8 měsíci

    The reason for the ridge on the slide release is to keep your thumb from hitting the button during recoil and locking the slide back prematurely. Almost every modern pistol has the same ridge, Glocks, etc etc.

  • @deandeann1541
    @deandeann1541 Před 8 měsíci

    That magazin release is the European paddle style - many Americans don't give it a chance as they are used to the button style. The European style is actually better - it is fully ambidextrous without needing to change anything, and it never accidentally drops the magazine, which can happen at the worst time with the American button style. I am American, but I gave the European paddle style a chance, now I prefer it.
