I just started playing it and only a couple of hours in and so far I really like it. I'm liking the story so far and the combat is pretty cool

Not exactly the game's fault, Sandland itself was a fairly short story and a game obviously had to expand the narrative. It's nowhere near the scope of Dragon Ball or Dragon Quest.
