Cognoscenti presents: This is what makes Boston home
Loving a place is not so dissimilar from loving a person. When we love somebody, we love the whole of them: with all their little quirks and beauties and annoyances. Cognoscenti, WBUR’s ideas and opinions page, will present an evening of readings, performances and conversations with Boston leaders about the concept of home - including what it means to live in Boston and find your place in it. Radio Boston host Tiziana Dearing will emcee the evening featuring:
Anita Diamant - Author and journalist
Catherine Morris - Founder, BAMS Fest and director of arts and culture, The Boston Foundation
Dr. Jim O'Connell - Founder and president, Boston Health Care for the Homeless
Ana Sortun - Chef and owner, Oleana, Sarma and Sofra
Musical performance from Kimaya Diggs, member of WBUR's The Makers.

She is so precious 🥺
i just love his voice. its like arnold, but smarter 😆
I'd like to recommend the Audiobook version of this wonderful book. With the exception of the opening chapter titled "Osgood's Wonder, Being the Reminiscences of an Apple-Man," the narration is excellent. Osgood's accent and enthusiasm is a bit grating. Keep going, don't stop!
Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed listening. Enchanting songs, like the cuattro ~ Everyone did a great job. 🙂
David Hogg is a joke!
Great performance, have fun at Boston Calling 💪🎹, greetings from Switzerland
How much is the publisher spending on marketing for this book? It's a terrible book! It's a book about apples written by a seriously sexually repressed man. The characters are two-dimensional and completely unlikable. The descriptions are sparse where they need to be in depth, to flesh out the characters, and way too detailed where they could have been one line. The entire chapter on bug porn was entirely unnecessary. I can not fathom why this book is being pushed so hard.
I thought ignorance is no bliss with the law.
I'm a little confused; The Grid is 22 minutes, not 13. Wh did Philip Glass say it was 13 minutes long?
The Tommy/Catherine hospital story is simultaneously one of the most badass/sweetest things I've ever heard. I was a definite '90s kid, and I listened to Car Talk EVERY Saturday morning... I absolutely loved the show. Still do. Have the full subscription to the podcast.
Every American should be bothered by the things that republican party the right-wing of the Supreme Court and Donald Trump is saying and doing.
Jesus the more I hear the more I get her ! race really is a construct lets just enjoy the melting pot that is humanity.
Great hearing her interviewed by her biggest fan ! love it.
Where have you been all my life Rhiannon ? beauty and talent.
So thrilled to have been a guest at this year’s WBUR Bright Night’s gala - a spectacular, star studded evening in support of public journalism and local news.

That’s the laughter of a woman who finally knows how wronged she was done and has put in the hard work to start healing
Bien plantá;Faviola.Boricua que te escucha en la Sierra Borinqueña😊Exito!!
A conversation that both engages and informs the mind from the nitty gritty of life to the most burning issues of our times while leaving the audience more enlightened and high-spirited.
He keeps preaching to deaf ears...
It's just life...
We had to take our destiny in our own hands..
So cool they gave credit to Louie Schwartzberg, another amazing filmmaker.
This was a very needed conversation. I know this is 4yrs ago, but the system is broken and has been broken for a long time. Definitely need to get this ball rolling and come up with some actions. Great content.
If you’d just pay attention to all violent crime, instead of your psycho, liberal fixation on “gun violence”, all in the context of what is the government’s responsibility in light of the constitution, you’d at least be on the right track. As it is, your hopeless, clueless, witless and cowardly, led by the same
Really wish all three hosts spoke at this speed on the podcast. Ive listened since the beginning and one consistently sounds as if she speeds up her own voice after recording the show. I'd never known who was speaking, but her observations and especially her summaries are great. And i dont have trouble keeping up - but she sounds like a competitive debater - if not a super bright chipmunk.;-> So i played parts 10 minutes of this at 1.25 speed. 2 hosts sounded like normal voices speaking very quickly, and i have to admit the guest reminded me of the podcast speedster. Who turned out to be Lea - far right - 1.25 playback creates an absolutely perfect match to her wound-up podcast voice. Ok. ❤ the show even when the sensation of listening to a speedfeak makes me tired ;->
Hi Jenn! I have not heard anyone depict my mother the same as you have. I'm astonished that our stories match so closely. You made it OK to admit I was happy when my mother died as well. Thank you for sharing. 💜
Amazing talent. Love her name.
Very enjoyable and interesting conversation, thank you!
God Bless both Click and Clack. 😊
I'm Glad my Mom Died~ my interpretation of the title is that the title is a way of saying Jeanette knows that if her mom lived, she probably wouldn't have been able to heal the way she's been able to. The enmeshment, codependency, ED and OCD would probably have continued. I'm glad her mom died, too. Her mom is finally at peace and Jeannette is healing beautifully! ❤
This was my favorite interview with Jeannette. The interviewer is funny, soft spoken and empathetic ❤ Beautifully done! And the audience is lovely as well!!
I hope you will sometime focus on where the women were when black males invented the banjo in the Caribbean. Is that part of your consciousness and future goals? I hope so.
today i just finished Young Mungo omg!! i cried so much!! so many emotions!! and the end?? Amazing book! i enjoyed so much going with Mungo!<3

I’ve listened to Car Talk since I was a kid working on cars or running errands with my dad. Hearing the shows now, from the bluegrass intro to the “Twinkle-Toes, Sweet Cheeks” credits, brings me back to those wonderful Sunday mornings with my dad. Thank you, Tom and Ray and everyone involved.

Ein wunderbares Konzert mit ausgezeichneten Kompositionen und tollen Musikern, die mich zu einer Traumreise in die Vergangenheit inspiriert haben. DANKE
Mum couldn’t afford to cook child’s food. We ate what adults ate. One choice only. Unless there was an allergy. So I had a sophisticated palate because I ate what my parents ate. I raised my son that way too.
i absolutely loved this interview... so sensible, such a "light" way to talk about all of this heavy stuff
I could not put this book down. It is so vast and yet so full of personal detail. I especially love the depiction of non-human characters. It reminded me of the deft way Steinbeck handled the turtle crossing the highway in "The Grapes of Wrath". I also loved the rich mix of genre!
