Doesn't explain why snoring attracts attention. Sleep has another purpose, rebuilding the body and reorganize the mind for next day's events.
What about snoring tho. If i went camping every coyote in a 5 mile radius would know my exact location. Feel like snorers would have been removed from the gene pool with this theory. But here we are. Myth busted 😏 i rest my case

Makes me wonder in aliens evolved on a tidally locked planet where one side of the planet always faces their sun, would they evolve to sleep or would they always be active?
Sleep is mostly for brain detoxification rather than protection (Hence the fact that organism without a brain do not sleep). The utilization of it as a precaution against harm and predation is one of its many benefits, albeit not its main purpose. So, I think an organism on a tidally locked planet with a brain-like structure would probably still sleep, although in an irregular manner; since there won't be any nights at the side of the planet where life can flourish, there are no reasons for sleep patterns to evolve.
Good thinking! Like what Bahadir says, sleep is mostly for brain and body restoration(I have a video coming soon about that). If said aliens have brains, then they would need to rest up in order to have energy. Even though their circadian clocks (if they have one) works, then it wouldn’t be as effective as ours in making us sleepy. So, they would have to take TONS of naps throughout their life.

There is actually a genetic variant in night owls called CRY1 that was thought to be selected for for that very reason. That is was beneficial to have a few night owls to keep watch over night while everyone else slept. I’m pretty sure I have the CRY1 gene myself lol
