Thanks for the video. Do you know if there is a way to convert from the older style control cables to the newer style? Newer cables can come as ultra flexible down to a 4" turn radius that would help a lot with my layout.

The diff in the xp motors is they put the old school high comp heads on it

That's the same high bow rail I had installed on my Whaler in 1986. I bought it brand new and didn't come with any rail so I chose this high one vs. the low.

Did you use any stripper for old removal? Looked like you just sanded with WD40? Then prime? Thanks.

Great vid, thank you. Silly question here: that white plastic canister to which the incoming fuel line is attached, to the right of the carb, is that a fuel filter? I've tried to unscrew it to inspect on my merc 6 hp, but can't get it to budge, and didn't want to force it in case its not actually "openable".

Thank you. I hope this helps me with my Mariner (same year and model). First time in 25 years it will not start. Getting spark and fuel so at the moment, cannot figure out why it's not starting. Plugs are less than 4 years old and look new.

Thanks to this video, I see I'm missing the tension spring off the fast idle lever. I liked the float height tip and the air mixture screw at 1.5 turns, to spec, mentioned in comments and the idle screw until it sounds good.
