    Only knew arnold back in the days 35 years back.... Aged 14.15. Now find out about mentzer method. And ive improved way more than I did back then doimg 30 sets a body part.... NOW training 1 body part a week. Mike was 100% correct and truthful. If 1 set isn't enough then how is 50 enough.

    with all respects DY progress was due to an amazing genetics, extended steroids use, intense training most people would not be able to do & a lifestyle 200% dedicated to muscle gain, sleep & nutrition. he is not the man to inspire ordinary people who just want to be healthy & cope with life challenges, be happy. he can give advise to bodybuilders only. as you understand health & happiness has not much to see with only looks & muscle gains.

    The REAL reason to listen to Yates. HE LISTENED TO MIKE. He did it is own way. I think he still over did it. But going to temporarily muscular failure. Then going to Eccentric muscular failure. which you DO need a spotter for. Mentzer was a scientist. "YOU MUST GET STRONGER TO GET BIGGER" This is what all those guys that say 'getting stronger won't get you bigger" don't get. Somehow, your supposed to get, weaker, to get bigger? which makes absolutely no fucking sense.

    The biggest progress-stopper I see is over-training, which is easy to do when weight-lifting. Rest is just as important as the lifting. It's surprising how few sets one has to do per week to get stronger and bigger ... if they're done right.

    I have been training 35 minutes 1 muscle group, and I leave the gym with an amazing pump, will continue with this method

    Hey so I see a lot of comments from ppl who haven’t tried it. I worked out 6times a week 3 sets till failure for 3-4 years… I’m a young healthy guy but natural. Just listening to this and changing to a 3 lift week (push pull legs) with 3 warmup sets first exercise and maybe 1-2 for others. ONE SET until legitimate real failure DOES WORK!!! I was barely able to gain strength before while BULKING… now I’m just maintaining (actually lost 6 pounds) and I’m stronger like this! “No changes in months… what’s gonna change if u keep going” so true. Mr Olympia knows his sh*tttt!!!

    At 54 yrs old, this 💯 In myvearly years, I severly overtrained. 2hr gym sessions. Tom Deters had a seminar in Ithaca NY in 1995. He told me this same thing.

    I follow this split and 3 days a week, but I prefer multiple sets with minimal (10 to 15 secs) between to add the intensity. Basically rest pause. I do the 30 min workouts, only a few exercises. It works great.

    Is he only doing 1 2 sets warm up then each exercise one set? Or is each exercise need a 1 or 2 set warm up?

    Took a week off before i started mentzers workout. I was doing calisthenics for weight loss i was eating the carnivore diet training 5-6 days a week. Saw no difference really. Took a week off stayed on my diet i gave into a Kit Kat a couple of times, and during the recover process watched my belly shrink my abs were back and my definition returned now im going into week 2 of mentzers workout this Friday. I already noticed an increase in strength already in my legs. We’ll see if get stronger in my arms next week. About to do my chest and back here soon for the first time.

    What a bunch of idiots in the comments section. Of course he is never going to tell us his exact stack as there will undoubtedly be some idiots who will copy it believing they will then look like that and likely kill themselves. Any bodybuilder is always going to quote low numbers unless they are stupid. The gear alone did not make him what he was you also need a sh.. tonne of hard work over a decade consistently, crazy levels of self discipline/sacrifice and great genetics.

    Progressive overload is more nuanced than just “getting stronger” Nor is it true that you need to get stronger to get bigger I’m a big fan of Yates and mentzer, but this particular advice isn’t the most up to date, thoughtful, or even helpful beyond intro motivational talk for a novice

    Just to avoid what Some say HIT sucks..Listen up,HIT is in the language of Advance training.The Basic language is You're Suppose to go Volume First then as you get Stronger,you Remove a Set,then you increase the intensity,as you carefully watch how response to new increase stimuli (Weight)..As you progress along,You again do remove another set until you have your warmup set and your working set.As long as all the other goals are met like food every 3 hours and a girlfriend who doesn't spend money and you're fully pumped.Do you get what I'm trying to say here ?

    Mentzer was an Imbecile, and too dogmatic. Dorian was smart enough to take from it and make it his own. There is no best way, but there is a "best" way for you.

    Yes 4 second negative, 4 positive and 2 pause. Go balls in... 1 or 2 warm ups. 4 to 5 movements, max. Then you can so some cardio / stretching / basic Abs movment, low intensity
