I have the gold lifetime plan. All the available maps including TomTom are overlays. You will need to fine tune your route in HereMaps before you export to a GPX to use on your Garmin device.

@@btcbiker Thanks for your reply. I have a gold, annual, membership of the MRA (route planner), not the app planner. My device, although a BMW ConnectedRide Navigator, is not made by Garmin. The rear mount (dictated by BMW) is the same, so that it still fits the BMW mounts, but the electronics within seems to be TomTom?! I sent an email to MRA Support to tell them that it is not possible to export to the BMW CRN directly. They replied to confirm that it is not, but they are working on a software update to fix this in the future. As it currently is, I have to ‘save as’, which downloads to my MacBook (Finder) in downloads and then I share it to my iPhone (airdrop), which in turn goes to my BMW Motorrad Connected app (installed on my phone) and then I can pick it up on the BMW CRN, when it is connected to the iphone. Hopefully the MRA software update, when it’s released, will negate this interim stage 🤞

You have to use Google My Maps.

You need to use the link from where I showed you in the video. Not the google maps link. I just tried it and it works.

Hi Sameena, Thank you for taking the time to comment and for subscribing to my channel. I have also just subscribed to your channel too. There are a couple of other apps like Calimoto and Sygic but I suspect that good old google maps might be the right solution for you. That said, MyRouteApp does have places even in the free version, you need to add them as POI's (Point of Interest), but it's a bit of a pain. Not for me it isn't. As I demonstrate in the video, it's a GPX1.1 file. You must be doing something different to me.

@@btcbiker You can export your timeline to KML file. Open Your timeline, choose the day, then choose option to export to KML. I usually export the KML to google my maps, ( it's add layer to your basemap), so i can follow the track without navigating.

Hi there, The video is about how to create a GPX file from a Google Maps route. I demonstrate how you could open a GPX file in MyRouteApp in the video, make sure you watch the whole video to see that. There are many applications that will open a GPX file for further editing, but that defeats the point of making a route in Google Maps in the first place. GPX files are route files that are used by navigation devices such as Garmin and TomTom as well as other mobile navigation apps like Calimoto for example. This video is not about "How to open a file" it's about how to make a file from a Google Route... Cheers, Will - 😎

That's a good question; as far as I know, the answer is no. I was hoping that when MyRouteApp launched the motorcycle travel mode recently, it would automatically create more curvy routes, but I can't see the difference between motorcycle and car mode. You can make your route avoid highways, making the route a bit more curvy, but you will have to manually shape your route. If MyRouteApp ever does enable this feature, I'll post a video about it.

If like me, you use a garmin nav device, I use a Zumu XT, it marks the start point of your route when you start. So if you choose the option to start your route from the start point and not the nearest entry point, your Garmin will take you to the "Go" or start point. Other than that, I have not found that it has any other use and for myself, mostly I don't bother with it. A GPX file is sequential anyway and knows where waypoint one is. Good question though and if anyone else knows of another reason to use this feature, please do let us all know? Cheers, Mark
