Our Great Loop TOP 10 TIPS 🤩 - Our best advice!
I might have mentioned this before, but my wife and I have the same Wilderness kayaks - love them. We've been using them well over 10 years. It's so cool to be right on the water next to a harbor seal! Beautiful video!!! Lots of adventures to come! Cheers
We love these kayaks too… it’s nice to sit on top and not feel ‘trapped’, makes them easy to get in and out. It was really neat to see that seal up close but in hindsight, it was actually too close for a wild animal.😳 We’ll be returning to that location again and again. Thanks so much for watching Todd!😎
No dis on the other you tuber looper vids I follow , but I love the fact you folks are more into facts and helpful information than you are showcasing yourselves… thanks for sharing
Thanks for your kind comments Tom. We appreciate it! Thanks for watching😎
Too much talking- not many boats toured.

Beautiful calm evening perfect for exploring the shoreline from a kayak, thanks for sharing. Well done catching a dog fish!!
Exploring this area by kayak can be very rewarding! Wildlife never disappoints. Thanks for watching😎
i love my city
Ottawa is a great city! Thanks for watching😎
Hello Mr Whiskery Seal!❤
Wasn't that cool? Actually he was a bit too close for comfort for a wild animal. Thanks for watching Lauren😎

Nicely done! I’ve lived here my whole life and my parents were boaters but I missed the opportunity to go through the locks. Thanks for bringing me through it was beautiful.
So glad you enjoyed it Janice! Travelling along the Rideau Canal is very enjoyable and one of our favourite waterways. Thanks so much for watching😎
Well done. The ocean route is so much prettier and relaxing also.
Thanks Maureen. We came home the scenic waterside route. Nice to see both options. Thanks so much for watching😎
My old stomping grounds, including the shortcut to high school, better known as the train bridge.

Merrickville is a lovely little town! You must have seen changes in that time. Thanks so much for watching Jack😎
For your info The lock in Carillon and other closed the first week of October and re-open only the first week of June. Always ben like that...close for winter
Thanks for sharing that info! Carillon is an interesting spot. Thanks for watching😎
I was in the search for a much smaller aluminum boat but ended up with a hewescraft. Lots of great brands out there hope you find the right fit
Glad you’re enjoying your Hewescraft. Lots of options for aluminum vessels especially out here. Thanks for watching😎
19A is a much prettier route to Comox. Desolation Sound is great. You will love it.
We came back along 19A, a lovely seaside view. Can’t wait to get out into Desolation Sound! Thanks so much for watching😎
@@staycool123 There is a big crowd of sail boaters who hang there most of the summer.
Sail boats and airplanes what a great combination 😊😎
We think so too!😊 Thanks for watching Thomas😎
Perhaps you could promote using the "ocean route" 19 A instead of the see nothing freeway of 19. I know you live on the island but these types of video are aimed at tourism. Maybe they could have a burger at the FBI. Help locals economy.
That’s a good point Brad. It’s nice to have 2 options. Both routes offer beautiful scenery. Thanks for watching😎
Awesome! I have close friends that live in Parksville. Marvelous area close to the ocean and all it has to offer...perfect!
That’s great! This whole area is fantastic to visit and we love living by the ocean. Thanks so much for watching😎
Great area….in the winter and spring you can ski in the morning and play golf in the afternoon.
Great point! Not too many places you can do that…isn’t that the best?! Thanks so much for watching😎
A sailboat?! How exciting! Can't wait to watch your journey to Desolation Sound.
We are very excited and can’t wait to start boating in Desolation Sound. Thanks for watching!😎
I live in Pine Brach. If I would have known you were coming I would have baked you a cake.
Oh, you are so kind! We love cake!😋 Thanks so much for watching😎
Glad to see you made it. That area is where we boat every weekend, going from Mullica River, across Great Bay, and into Absecon Inlet. Have seen many boats go just a tad outside the channel and get grounded. Good luck on remainder of your trip
We’re glad we made it too! We enjoyed the challenge.😃 Thanks for watching😎
Great video. I'm jealous of your retirement life.
Glad you enjoyed this episode. Thanks so much for watching Mike😎
Not sure what attracted me to watch this video but glad I did. As an Ottawan myself, it was a very unique way to see our City travelling from the east into Ottawa. Well done,
Ottawa has a beautiful downtown area and it’s certainly a unique perspective from the water. We appreciate your comment and thanks so much for watching Victor!😎
I grew up near Ste Anne de Bellview but was never affluent enough to do any boating there.
St Anne de Bellevue was a lovely little spot! Seems to be a popular place for boaters to stop. Thanks so much for watching 😎
I have a couple questions if you don't mind my asking. Stay Cool is a beautiful Boat!! Now that you've sold her, would you have liked a little bigger boat? Say...40 or 43 foot? Also, in your opinion, would you rather have had a twin-screw boat? Or were the thrustes find for maneuvering .
Hi Greg, While there is no perfect boat, Stay Cool was great for the intended use of living one-year aboard for the Great Loop. If we had regular visitors, it would have been nice to have a bigger boat. They say you should buy something that is big enough to live on but small enough for 2 people to handle comfortably. For a boat with an inboard engine, it’s much easier to do maintenance on a single engine than twin engines (because of space). The thrusters made maneuvering much easier and the rear thruster was a game changer. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!😎
sweet couple thank you for info
Thanks for your kind comment and for watching this episode!😎
Just a notice! The 3025 is actually a destination, other than a GFX! Still a great boat. We own a destination, and surprisingly, we prefer it more than a GFX.
You’re right! The GFX series is different from the Destination series. Both seem very nice. What do you love about your destination? Thanks for watching😎
@@staycool123 Everything on the destination is wonderful! Designed perfectly
Good grief….love watching your “old adventure”! 😁
It was a fantastic adventure! Glad you’re enjoying it.😊
Fished the Mighty Ottawa River below the Parliament Building and by the old log flume and then fished the Riduea Canal above the first lock in a 16' Fisher Marine and 20 hp Johnson outboard motor with my Yorkie Rudy Toot 2 while visiting my wife's parents in Ontario, the wife didn't fish! But it was and still is my most favorite vacation & fishing trip! Canada is beautiful and some great Small Mouth fishing too! Great Video
Thanks for sharing your memories Michael.😊 We just love the Rideau Canal and have spent many years exploring various spots. Definitely some great fishing too! Thanks for watching 😎
Thanks for visiting from Beachwood NJ. Curious why you chose Manasquan inlet over Barnegat to get to Pine Beach? We had an inboard with a 3 1/2 foot draft and ran that section regularly. No problems if you follow the markers.
Hey JP, we chose Manasquan simply to stay on the inside during bad weather (at that time) and get as far north as possible. What an interesting part of the Great Loop… thanks for watching!😎
Great videos / any idea what boat the MV Dogfish was?
Hey Norm, MV Dogfish looks like a newer Kady Krogan express. Nice boat! Thanks for watching 😎
Fyi the Seapiper was orriginally designed and molds bui!t in so-cal but the molds were sent to China for production. 10-15 were produced then. Production returned to the us with minor deck changes built to based on experience with first production run. Boat is reminesnt of the wood pendcott boats bui!t in 60' &70's that also had the center cotpit. Some of the owners of the first boats have found ways to get shade over the cotpit. Vital in anywhere but pnw. Interesting design but 10' beam is trailable as a simp!e wide load and would enhance the living space. They missed a trick there. Cheers warren
The SeaPiper is an interesting vessel and we appreciate you sharing your info. It’s refreshing to see the influence of European designers. Thanks so much for watching!😎
Still watching. Calling it quits for the night…will resume watching tomorrow. 😁👍
That’s a lot of Stay Cool.😎 We appreciate you following along!
I am still watching….doing a long session…. 😁👍
Georgian Bay is beautiful 🤩
You just popped up…so I have started watching you…from the beginning. 😁
How exciting! You’ll likely notice the videos improve in quality as you go along. We documented our trip for friends and family and had never done it before.😬 We loved this Great Loop adventure and hope you do too. Let us know if you have any questions and thanks so much for watching😎
We did the same . Lived in Ottawa 35 years retired in 2005 in Parksville/French Creek. We also found a wonderful Strata no regrets.
From what we understand, most residents in this area are not originally from here. You must have seen growth and changes since 2005! Thanks for watching😎

Hey Warren and thanks for sharing your info about Troy and the Hudson River. Good to know! And thanks for watching😎
Nice trip, thx for sharing. I liked the American Tug 43, kept comparing with your mainship. All these new boats have beautiful interiors, I might have to restart purchasing lottery tickets to fuel the dream of owning one. The luxury boats reminded me of the film overboard....worth a rerun. Jeez it must be hard for you to go back to looking at trailerables after visiting these 🙂
Hey Alex, we like the American Tug 435 too… very nice layout and solidly built. It’s definitely a change going to a trailerable boat but it suits our lifestyle right now. Just being out on the water is fantastic! Thanks so much for watching😎
Both of you have a great camera presence and a very professional, yet natural and pleasant presentation. I encourage you to find a specific niche in the boating industry and cover it as a team-possibly client based marketing? I think you'd garner a quick following and would be quite successful. I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming. Best wishes.
Thanks for your kind words! We appreciate it. Interesting idea… thanks for watching 😎
@@staycool123 😉
Nice presentation ...pricey though.
Nice to have different options and in truth all boats require resources to buy, run and maintain. Thanks for watching this episode😎
Caught a 30" muskie from my kayak at the location of your 2 minute mark years ago.
Wow! That’s awesome! Thanks for watching and happy fishing😎
It's classic because its the design they have used for over 40 years.
Could be but we never saw it on any other Mainship. Thanks for watching😎
helpful. I am 56 and considering doing loop in a few years when my daughter ships off to college. Why don't you give some numbers. Boat cost, gas cost, other costs what you sold boat for. For reference.
Hey Dan, glad it was helpful. We outlined our looping costs in this episode: czcams.com/video/xDfKxwXxieU/video.htmlsi=FlkT_Bm8oUONPwit The cost of the boat is not included in the expenses and varies greatly depending on location and the market at that time. Also the choice of boat is very personal. Thanks for watching😎
Big congratulations on reaching 5K subscribers. I've been working my way through your Great Loop adventures and enjoying every one.
Thanks very much Glen! It blows my mind that we reached 5K 🤯 We really enjoyed the Great Loop… it was a fantastic way to start our retirement! Thanks so much for watching😎

The marina selling this Cutwater had the boat stored on its trailer. We weren’t able to try the boat in the water at that time. Thanks for watching😎
Pretty rare to see a Coastal Craft here on YT, much less two. Fantastic boats.
