Raised bed planter build for square foot gardening
zhlédnutí 174Před 4 lety
Complete build of a large raised bed planter. My partner wants to try out 'square foot' gardening, this is where you have a box sub-divided into 1 foot square sections and plant different things in each square foot. All built using pressure treated timber, a mix of 2x4's and 2x6's

    Gosh! I just finished 9 boxes using 30 degrees - struggling all the way. Can't wait to try more with 31.5 degrees!!!

    Hi just watching your video on planters and it’s good you said about wearing gloves to protect your hands but nothing about eyes and ears don’t they matter. Perhaps eye protection and ear protection are worth a mention. 😅😊

    Thank you for the 31.5° info! I'm making a hexagon wishing well for my daughters wedding reception and i did a one layer trial run with cheap fence pickets and was impossible to align it correctly and didn't know why. You have saved me so much time, effort, money, and embarrassment and giving me my confidence back for a successful build. Your awesome info will be a blessing to many,!

    i just made one of these today. nice to know about the 31.5 degrees setting. ile try this on the next one. when i did 30 degrees mine was extremely tight rather than a gap as you experienced. id planed all my timber down too so it was very flat etc and 90 true. every project alwasy throws you out. duz mayeddin!!

    shud cut the end at 30degrees. then place a stop block to the left that measures ur 25cm from low point to low. point of blade. save urself cutting twice each piece

    I love that right angle jig. Simple yet ingenious. I am planning build a potting shed and have been collecting scrap wood. Mostly pallet wood and I managed to get hold of some second hand tongue and groove. Thank you for posting the video, I will let you know how I get on.

      @user-my9yn4yn6y Před rokem

      If I were you I would save the tongue and groove for a door (unless you can find some second hand doors for cheap) as there will then be no gaps in the doors and it will be weathertight. For the cladding you can use pallet wood even though there will be gaps if you use a breathable membrane because that will keep it watertight underneath

      @stevejeffery4951 Před rokem

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. As it happens I now have enough tongue and groove for the whole shed including the door. But thanks all the same.

    Excellent but I would add gutters and down pipes to catch the rain water.

    You need only one piece of stop block with 31.5 angle bevel. No double work

    Hiya can I ask if your shed roof suffers from condensation after a frost?

    • @simongrimmett1
      @simongrimmett1 Před 3 lety

      Hi, yes, do get some condensation inside. However not seen any ice or frost inside the shed, its always a few degrees warmer than outside. Certainly all the plants that we have wintered inside have been ok
