@@Mr-M-on-motors Does Italy have less road deicing procedures than other Euro countries? If so, could it be the reason why so many 80s and 90s Fiats, Alfas and Lancias can still be seen on Italian roads?

Oh yes in the north of Italy they have to be well equipped. It does snow and have very cold weather. In the south of Italy we don’t get as much snow and ice so cars are less exposed to the harsh elements. You still need to took after the car. There are people with very old cars still on the road. Our Uno has also been stored in the basement so that also helps.

Oh nice, you saved yourself a lot of money. Yeah plastics are made on a budget. Oh screen sensitivity was fine on the test drive I did. No to bad milage if you can get near 30 mpg it’s a good result. Overall it’s a nice nippy little car. You got a bargain.

Thank you for your comment, sorry for the late reply. There is no showdow of a doubt that Alfa Romeo is a drivers car. It’s that feeling of being engaged and part of an experience that made me want one. The design even today is very desirable. You definitely need to buy with your heart as reliability has also plagued the brand. I must say I didn’t really have many issues with mine. I would play close attention to the electrics with can be temperamental. My choice was a diesel because of the travelling I did and even that diesel was very fun to drive, the chassis balance and steering input made a quite enjoyable experience. A petrol engine either the 1.4 or QV 1.75 will give you the Alfa classic feeling and soundtrack. The infotainment screen was added I believe in Giulietta’s from 2016. With some technical skills and know how it could be installed in earlier model years. The GT you mentioned is also a lovely coupe but they are rare now.

Yes i’ve heard in Brazil it was an icon. Some might still be on the road today. The classic Punto is also used and popular in South America. Thanks for your comment.

You’re not the first person to say that. I would agree with you that petrol is king. The diesel engine is from the Fiat bravo with some tweaks. I didn’t think much of it at first but the low end torque of this engine is very useful. You don’t lose that Alfa Romeo handling if that is of concern. The reason for the diesel is because I was driving an 88 miles round trip to work. I could have gone for any diesel but the Giulietta said come and buy me. 😊

That’s cool, I think other cars do too. Although I don’t think it did on my Alfa Romeo Giulietta. I’ve checked my dad’s Ford Fiesta and it doesn’t lock back once you unlock it.

The UNO I have is the petrol version. Do you mean fuel cap ?

@@Mr-M-on-motors ok thats great i am from nepal kathmandu i have fiat uno diesel 1.7 but in my car haven't fuel cap i used to open and close its fuel tank by wood while refuelling it in but it has lost away and i want to watch its sample only because in nepal fiat uno cars parts is not available and in india also do you use Facebook or instagram because i want to send you myvehicle photos

Yes it is quite a tall boxy car, even the original Panda is like that. It’s nice to know it won car of the year. The engine is a solid unit. I’ll be in Italy soon and I’ll be going live with this car, so be sure to subscribe and turn on notifications.

I must say sometimes the use of cheap materials and electronics doesn’t help. It will interesting to see if the Peugeot 208 has similar issues.

Thank you for your comment, I didn’t notice any glitches on the dash when I test drove the car. The turbo should have helped climb the hill. Your feedback is very useful for long term ownership.

When I took the car to the garage because the Stop start didn’t function I was told if the battery charge falls below 80% it doesn’t work check the price of a new battery . The Language on screen switches on its own accord

I presume you bought the car new from Vauxhall. I had similar issue with the start stop with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. I’m not sure if mine was battery related. At times it would stop working. In the end I disabled it, it became annoying. That screen language switch shouldn’t happen. If the car is under warranty the dealership should look into it.

Oh cool love the Stelvio design. I need to review it one day hopefully. It’s going to be strange seeing Alfa Romeo transition to electric. The main thing they keep the spirit. I agree these batteries aren’t light. Let’s see what Stellantis has in store for Alfa Romeo.

I remember one holiday in Italy. My family and I went to the Adriatic coast. Two hours drive each way. With a full tank it would get close to 300 miles, depending on the speed you travel at.

Did 848km on a full tank in South Africa in 1998. Best small car for its time and very reliable.

Sorry for the delayed reply, thank you for the comment and real life user experience on the new Corsa. It’s those small details you mentioned which should come standard. When you look at the money one spends, one expects more. Saying that I do think this is the best Corsa overall. I liked the drive and power is decent. I do need to source a 208 for a comparison review. They both share the same platform, so the driving experience should be interesting. The inside is the best interior of all Corsa generations. They have gone for simple design lines compared to previous gens which had sharper lines. It is definitely plainer than the Peugeot 206. Thanks for you opinion much appreciated.

Hey, depends on how it’s been keep. In the UK I’ve seen some around £5k. The Mk 1 uno can fetch upto 10k. In mainland Europe prices are even more competitive.

Oh yes size wise it is more practical. I thinks it depend what you need the car for. If you have a family the Astra is better especially with the bigger boot space.

This model has a more rounded design I think this Corsa came out before the new shape design from the Astra and Mokka. I think the next Corsa could have the similar design. Although a lot of people also like this design. It’s a hard one for designers.

I’ve never driven a diesel version. That’s the great thing having a classic you can go to shows. The Cinquecento is amazing for towns, not many on the road in the UK. My first car was the punto mk 2 what a great little car brilliant engine. Fiats have great engines as with all cars they have to be looked after so they age well

The self lock is a security feature but it shouldn’t lock after a few seconds

You might have an electrical issue there. Best to seek help from a good mechanic or electro mechanic

What an engine indeed, after 30 years the engine still sounds great. Really I didn’t know that.

It is a smart car. I know it has a lot in common with the Peugeot 208 but I think it has it’s own characteristics. There is no way to turn it off. Sorry for the delay in replying.

They truly are brilliant town cars. Yes you had the turbo version which was a rocket. You’re right about the lower BHP ones. The one we have struggles up mountains. Yes you have to plan the overtaking 😃

I’m glad to hear the auto is also great gearbox.

I believe it was the Elite Nav trim which is a high spec. The only thing missing is heated seats. The one I drive was the 100bhp variant.

Vauxhall have done a lot of improvements, the trims offer value for almost everyone. I’m glad you are happy with the new Corsa. The platform is shared with Peugeot but I think it still has it’s own character. The 100bhp motor offers great performance.

I also changed from a yaris they were getting too expensive. the corsa is better value for money and the fuel seems to last longer.

I apologise for the late reply, yes an Alfa can only be petrol. I bought the diesel because of lots of driving. I have to say the diesel engine has lots of torque and quite fun sadly the noise will never be great. The only issue I had was the wiring looms which is more of an electrical problem and a small suspected turbo leak. Other than that ownership has been fine.
