As far as I know you'll need meals to tame the neutral Vikings. Carrot soup is easiest but they may tame faster with better meals. I believe you can fully customize what the traders will buy and sell in the mod's config files, just play around with the settings until they are to your liking. I tried the config files and none of the sell list items are applying to the game, I tried removing "Read Only" from properties and made sure I got the code correct and everything, I'll just deal with selling the usual things as it could be a little too cheesy anyway. I guess I'm not exactly doing a speedrun, but I only spent like 20 minutes gathering the most basic upgrades before fighting Eikthyr. Even after you get to the black forest and swamp biomes you'll still need to return to the meadows for deer hide and leather so you're never truly done with it. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I'm playing the new Ashlands update. There aren't very many new things to showcase early game like the abiliy to make new types of resource stacks. We'll get to some of the new features soon!

You can load up your character with some key resources from your old world before creating the new world to give yourself a head start if you want. I would suggest starting completely from scratch every once in a while so you have the opportunity to try things you didn't do your last run. Try different weapons and armor than you did last time. Make a base in a completely different biome. Make each run a unique experience and you'll be rewarded with a great game! I'm primarily a solo player however, I can only play when I have free time which is never at the same time each day. Good luck!

Yeah my pleasure! It was a lot more fast faced and dangerous without feeling unfair or frustrating. If this was my first time encountering this boss I probably would have died way more! My only suggestion would be to reveal the location of the sacrificial stone once the boss is defeated if that is possible. In my playthrough I stumbled upon the boss locations before the stones so it was kind of anticlimactic to have to go and locate the stones afterwards.

If you are new to Valheim I would suggest that you play through the game without any mods first, then try mods on a new world with a new character. I got all my mods from thunderstore.io and installed them using their app. You can use their app to launch the game with or without mods and easily download and update any mods you have installed. I did notice that while editing the video! 😆 It wasn't until I figured out how to remove the red mist that I finally understood what some of the quests (and their rewards) were really doing for me. The game is still early access so I feel that they could improve the beginning tutorial for new players.

OK, just saw the start of the real fight...that's tougher! I remember when I was playing before it was finished, I was melee as much as possible and I had to limit spawns to two stars because that was all I could handle, barely, in a fight.

The 3 star dire wolves really made it feel like I was trying to make it through a tough boss level with the final boss at the end. I'm not sure it would have felt quite as satisfying to complete if there wasn't any challenge before the final battle. I think if I do another modded run I'll make all enemies into 1-star with the different effects. That will offer a challenge and mix things up without turning half the enemies into mini bosses.

This is completely unmodded. The creators of this custom map made it so it could be played even on the console version if they connected to a server running this map. All you need is to download the world file and load it up from the main menu if you want to try it yourself. Thanks for watching!

It never occurred to me to use the secondary attack with them. Maybe you could add a hint in the weapon description? I will need to do a second modded run at some point in the near future after the official Ashlands patch has settled.

Haha, I'll just say that while my reactions were 100% genuine based on the difficulty, I knew what I was getting into when I installed these mods. I wanted to challenge myself and I absolutely did just that! However, I was having fun the whole time. Even when things got tough and I had to try to recover, I was always thinking about how to overcome the challenges and get to a satisfying conclusion. I hope you enjoyed the journey as well!

I have two bad habits when I play these kinds of games, collect everything and don't throw away anything. I just got a bunch of copper bars in the ruined shrine and tried very hard not to collect resources I've gotten before such as copper ore. I'm sure I'm going to need it in the future, but when you're on a quest to an unknown destination my priorities change on the fly. I also don't like getting rid of weapons because "what if I need them"? I'll regret not having it when I need it way more than wasting my inventory space in the moment. The delay in getting your shield up doesn't appear that bad when you're not in combat, but when trying to parry it FEELS slower. It's strange how delayed it seems when you need it, like you need to get used to it every time you use it. I'm going to keep at it because I feel like I'm close to getting the timing down.

Most of the modded enemies I've seen aren't entirely original, or are lacking in some way but you can't simply call them low effort. The difference is that the mods developers do this for free in their spare time while the official developers are paid full time to work on their models. I can appreciate them for what they are and still have fun while I wait for the official updates. Thanks for watching!

@@MidKnightNova I'm not trying to shit on anyone for using these mods, it is just a common and misguided sentiment that I've seen among the community that these mods do what the developers "can't do" and that they are "what valheim should be". Even therzie, the mod developer in this case, indulge these arguments yet consistently deliver unpolished pieces of work. I'm not saying you argue in favor of these points, just that they are a very common belief among the community, so much so that people have played these mods and written off valheim entirely because it is still in early access/development. And yes, it is true that they aren't paid for their work, that doesn't absolve them of criticism. There are plenty of mod developers out there that are not paid for their work or even lack patreon, yet still make polished mods for the game. I'm not saying valheim is a perfect game, I just think that if you are going to put it on yourself to do a developers job for them (in this case, adding content to unfinished zones), you should not elevate yourself above the source material.
