Terrific item of nostalgia. It was a pity the meal tray wasn’t captured, it would have been interesting to see what EA served on a sector like that. It would also have been more enjoyable without the unnecessary narration, in most cases what was being observed spoke for itself mitigating the need for stating the obvious. However, it’s this individual's production and they are naturally free to do what they wish with it. Having said that, the narrator made an excellent point about the lengthy journeys those paddle steamers made way back when, the almost overlapping zig zagging as a consequence of those frequent "S" turns certainly would have added on a significant degree of travelling time and mileage plying that mighty river. Thank you for sharing this wonderful gem, its great you got to fly with EA prior to their collapse - I wonder what they would be like today had they survived. I’d much rather see EA, PA, and NW still in operation than the likes of hideous DL along with all those deplorable low cost carriers that are a genuine cancer on the airline industry. It’s the legacy airlines trying to cut costs wherever possible to compete with their entirely different cost base and business model that has transformed the remaining airlines into unremarkable dreary transport/logistics companies than great airlines!

Saw his video this morning from yesterday I believe dude this guy is amazing. Who is this pilot? He’s awesome. I absolutely love this skit. I can’t stop watching it.

I saw Art Scholl do a similar routine about 45 years ago, in his J3. Then about 5 years later at an airshow where he brought only his Super Chipmunk, he BORROWED the local flying clubs Super Cub and did the routine! That answered any questions about the plane being specially set up.

I definitely would have loved to fuel one of those! Grew up flying Eastern for vacation with family . Always loved Aviation and I miss EA so much.. This was when airlines HAD CLASS...

Great flight review on Eastern Airlines 727-200 ATL-CLT. A better experience on your prior flight MCI-ATL in the rear of the 727-200 so you can hear the engines. Much quieter up front on this ATL-CLT leg of your trip.

Eastern going out of business was life changing for the worst. My dad was a mechanic at MIA, and we lived in South Florida. Eastern going down made my parents sell our house and move to NC 😢. What Lorenzo did to Eastern is UNFORGIVABLE.

Flying was definitely different then. I remember flying from Chicago to Mexico in the mid 80s, whatever airplane/airline we were on had a smoking section in the last few rows of tail seats and full dinner service included in the ticket price.

Flew this magnificent bird back in the 80s and early 90s. You had to stay in constant power on final or she would fall like a sack of bricks out of the sky. But that was the fun part hand flying and riding that throttle til the very end when we slammed them shut just in time for touchdown. And they always bounced. How I miss these beautiful birds. Thats my grandpas bull. The man that got out at the mall and shook the cops hand, thats my grandpa. Hes been gone over 20 years and seeing this today flooded back so many memories from my past. Thank you to whomever recorded this and a bigger thank you for getting my grandpa in a few of the shots. I needed this today.

I was fortunate enough to watch Rodney larry Phillips larry Moore buck simmons the Flintstones flyer mike duvall jack boggs race the NDRA! These drivers were amazing! So thankful i got to see them race! Thanks superman!!!

Greetings, I went through in 67 in 13's and back from Nam was an instructor in 55's and it was a great assignment as the students were so gung ho. Thanks for sharing your video and the best of luck!

I do not see most of what you call out in the video... probably due to my lack of expertise... but still. what I see is that the Choreography of this sequence was a very fast-moving and confusing, leaving less breathing space between maneuvers than most of the acrobatics I have seen... since this is so, one must consider whether the pilot simply overstretched himself beyond his mental capacity (the ability to keep what's going on in his mind and make correct inputs)... indeed the jerkiness we see develop may be a sign of the strain both his mental faculties, his neural-conductive system (that which answers for quick and accurate muscle inputs upon the brains command), and his physical state (the ability to give enough nutrients & oxygen to the organs etc.) is undergoing... I believe, this, rather than anything else is the most likely cause of the event... he was conscious and making inputs to the end, but his reactions were off enough to make him unable to adjust to the situation for a safe outcome... effectively, the accident happened on the ground, long before this plane took off... my recommendation: have a person who knows you but is unafraid to criticize you look over your flight plans. make it a point to consult others you know to be good and listen to their assessments. and do not hesitate forget to do thesame for the pilots who look up to and trust you! remember, it is easier to heal a bent ego than to resurrect the dead....

Thanks for the lookback. A Brasilia, a Jetstream and a Dash 8. Uptown the way it looked in '90. The old Coliseum on approach to 36L (now 36C, primarily a departure runway). At the time you videoed this flight, I was tearing up the skies in SD 330s and 360s. Probably the only things uglier in the air was the Casa 212s. Haha. Ah...the good old days! Thanks again.👍

I live only about a 30 minute drive from the museum. The little station/museum on the Willow end is very cool with a lot of old exhibits and railroad memorabilia that any railfan would enjoy and the North Pole Express is one of the top Christmas train rides in the U.S..

Great memories. I last flew on Eastern way back in 1978, on a 727 as a matter of fact...PIT-MIA and MIA-PIT. I last flew on a 727, deadheading on US Air Shuttle sometime in the late 90s. As a crewmember, I loved MCI airport! Unlike most other terminals and the long hikes to get the hotel van, in KC if you tripped coming off the jetway you'd land outside! Yep, power-backs are basically I thing of the past with wing mounted engines. Additionally they could wreak havoc with loose items around the gate area. You had to be careful to stay off the brakes or you could sit the plane on its tail! Haha. Again, at the risk of sounding like Bob Hope, thanks for the memories!

Eastern at this point was a SCAB airline a very unsafe airline at that time.There where many accidents and incidents that happened durning the strike.All the pilots where scabs as well as many other employees.Frank Lorenzo destroyed Eastern and upstreamed all of Eastern's good assets to Continental.

Thank you for posting this as well as the MCI-ATL flight. My Dad was a 20+ year employee with Eastern at ATL. Every time I see a video of an Eastern bird I think of him. In 1964 I got to ride a 727 ATL-EWR (as a paying passenger). The new 727 had a quieter cabin than the earlier jets. About 20 years later I flew on an inaugural trip for the 757 so I got a "free hat" from Eastern. Today you have to fly business class on a wide body to have similar comfort.

I love that since the NTSB doesn't do its job anymore, we just took over. Not a terrible plan.

I did that flight but from Seoul to Los Angeles ...and that was long Korean Air, but to Atlanta ...oh wow.
