Having been in the PS-camp I wish I could say I feel good about seeing XB shit the bed, but Sony has closed most of the companies that made the games I liked. One example genre, arcade racing: MotorStorm and Wipeout had their last sequels released over a decade ago. Across the line, whatever you like across all media; capitalism is slowly but surely turning it all to poo. And even that poo has large quantities of filler.

You were slightly off about the plot of Toontown Online. Scrooge visited Gyro's lab and discovered the prototype he had been working on. He activated it early, not realising that the cogs wouldn't follow his command, and instead of a workforce of efficient machines like he'd imagined, the cogs formed their own company and started a hostile takeover of Toontown. Basically, if Scrooge had let Gyro finish the prototype, the cogs could have just handled the work, leaving the toons to enjoy their fun.

I see three things wrong with the Mac ecosystem in terms of gaming. 1) inconsistency between major updates: What works fine in Sierra may not work nearly as well or at all in the next major update. This is generally not a problem with Windows. 32-bit support was dropped COMPLETELY a few years ago, the main program can be 64-bit, but if the installer is only 32-bit, you can't install it. If a library it relies on is 32-bit it won't be fully featured if it even runs at all. 2) inconsistency with the core hardware: Apple's strict control over Mac hardware means they do whatever the hell they want. The switch to Apple Silicon is not the first time they did something like this, they ditched IBM's PowerPC chip for Intel back in like 2005. While it may not have hurt them in this regard, I can't really say it's been a boon either (aside from the library of iOS games being able to natively run) 3) refusal to support cross platform APIs like Vulkan: while it is true that most commercial engines make the job of targeting other APIs fairly simple, it's still more work they are requiring for not much benefit. It should also be noted, that while Microsoft does control DirectX, they don't force games to use it except on Xbox to my understanding. The worst they treat us on Windows is just "upgrade to Windows 11 to use the full suite of features in DirectX 12" And all that is just scratching the surface. There are more problems to the developers, traits about the Mac ecosystem that are just deal breakers to most PC gamers (upgradability being a prime reason for me). There's an indie dev called Pirate Software, and he quite plainly said that Mac was not worth the trouble of supporting. $800 in hardware minimum (Mac Mini), $100 a year on an XCode key, a hellish experience getting XCode to actually work and compile the game.... all for .02% of his sales; for every 5000 copies sold, one of them was for Mac. "Build it and they will come" won't work when you've already burned bridges and don't even try make the process easy or the ecosystem attractive to developers. The Switch is 7 years old, less powerful than the Xbox One, and third party teams are still hard at work building games for it even if they come much later than they did even on last gen consoles or look like complete crap in comparison (Mortal Kombat 1, Hogwarts Legacy, I'm looking squarely at you!!)

The gun mechanics are so complex that it’s closer to real life ballistics than anything else. Bullet drop first and foremost. Also laser weapons are still hitscan which I think is nice.

Man the multiplayer alone made this game worth the money. Spent HOURS playing it with my friends. You can even play it alone with bots. This will always be my favorite N64 game.

When you "genre-ize" Xbox's home grown franchises before the late 2010s/2020s acquisition feast (this is, pretty much, where they were in...2017), it's kinda dire. FPS: Halo (And it had kinda slipped to B-tier, even by 2017.) Third-Person Shooter: Gears (Still A-tier, but...mmm.) 3D Brawler: File not found (Though, their only real attempt was Ninety-Nine Nights, and that was, probably, sold, to KONAMI! In the late 2000s!) Platformer: Blinx...? RPG: Fable (Fable isn't bad, but in the RPG space was always B-tier at best, and that's not great for a platform holder's only entry into the space. Microsoft had Mass Effect in the palm of their hands...and sold it!) Party: Fuzion Frenzy...? Fighting: Killer Instinct...? (Though, again, they've only allowed the making of ONE Killer Instinct. That question mark drops when they drop a second.) Racing: Forza (Okay, good.) Sandbox: Crackdown (LAME.) Strategy: Age of Empires (Good.)

These big companies are lying to everyone. They are not making record profits and in reality they're losing money and have to shut studios down, lay off staff and more. It's just getting worse and companies invest a lot of money into a garbage broken game and it flops. That seems to be a trend atm, either wokeness and greed kills the game or the game is broken garbage.

And to think I was going to give Xbox a chance. Xbox is going to die and all the companies they bought are going to die with it....... *_INCLUDING RAREWARE!!!!!!!!!!_* 😡
