Evening vs Morning Deer Hunts For Bucks! (SURPRISING RESULTS)
There is something magical about mature whitetail buck movement as that sun starts to go down. Sometimes you catch them at last light other times they move just a bit earlier. Either way afternoons and evenings have produced some trophy bucks across the country. Hunting is about confidence and I have had my most success hunting the evenings. Mornings can be excellent as well. I have seen bucks in both the mornings and the evenings. However, where I hunt I have seen and harvested double the amount of bucks in the evenings. A lot plays into buck movement one of the main ones is your specific property. Each one is different just like each buck is different. When Bow Hunting anything can happen. I think the main takeaway is to make sure we are out there no matter what!

    How is the tip on the 7'8"?? I heard the 7'3" is forgiving and it's decent for both treble and single hook baits and I heard the 7'8" is a bit stiffer and not favorable for trebles?

    The Hag's cheat code has taken the place of the bandito bugs for me, it's a cross between the bandito bug and rage craw. Not a lot of colors but the colors they do have are all good, much better durability and the large claws float.

    I've shot a lot of bucks, I'd have to say it's 50/50 on morning or evening. I think alot of things control the movement of bucks. Like you said weather is a major thing but I think it's also moon phase and the area you hunt 🤔 I hunt the top of a huge hill that's wide and long. I usually don't see bucks coming back up to bed until 8:30 or so in the morning but when I hunt river bottom I see bucks all day. Here in Oklahoma it's still really warm in October so not much movement from mature bucks but around Halloween and cool fronts I start seeing mature bucks sneaking around in the morning and maybe before dark but it's still warm. From Halloween thru Thanksgiving you can see a buck anytime of the day and I actually see a bunch of bucks in the middle of the day. I guess the best time to hunt is as often as you can... lol. Good luck this season 👍

      Thanks for sharing all of that. All of this is very interesting on how things are different but also the same. I love to hunt ridges I have caught a couple big ones cruising both the top and bottom. We can also have some warm Octobers depending. Usually when we hit halloween the morning temps really drop. Evenings can still get warm. I agree in that rut time period they can move whenever. I also agree to be out there as much as you can! Ive tried and heard of people having success midday I will have to try that more. Good luck to you as well!

      @Outdoord I've shot big bucks at sunrise, midday and sunset... lol I really like hunting late December and early January when it freezing and below. The deer are really active and I have shot bucks January 13th and 15th, last day of season. Both were following yearling does looking for love ❤️. So I don't think there's really a perfect time to hunt because you just never know when those crazy deer will move. I shot one of my biggest at 3 pm on a 68 degree day with high humidity. I was sweating just sitting there. The day before I watched 4 different bucks chasing does around in a small bottom. I knew I couldn't go in and hang a stand so I didn't even go in until 11 and sat on the ground in the middle of some cedar trees. At 2pm I could see legs on the Ridge above me and hear trees being rubbed. It took an hour for that buck to SLOWLY start working to the bottom. He stood on the edge for 20 minutes and slowly came down into the creek bottom. As he cleared some small trees I drew and he saw me and turned towards as I released the arrow. I was like crap ! He didn't go 25 yards . So you just never know when or where a buck will show up. All you can do is be out there sweating or freezing. Nice video.

      @@SuperDave-pe1zw Me and my brother took a big old 8 pointer mid December. Im pretty sure he was doing the same his right eye was basically gone from fighting. I feel like that was fate that day. For all that to happen. That was around 3:45 pm. That's the biggest that I have taken. Ive also seen a huge 8 around 9:30am during the same time period. I am learning to be more aggressive than worrying about messing my spots up. Last rut we had super high temps and I seen multiple bucks and even got a shot at one around 70 degrees. It's awesome the anticipation of the older bucks and how cautious they are. You were probably nice and calm by the time the hour went by lol. That's an awesome story I could talk about this stuff all day long lol. Thanks!

    I always wear a mask for a couple of obvious reasons. You have to fool the does to be successful because they WILL ruin your hunt.. i always hunt with the wind in my face and behind me the deer can't get behind me. I also mix vanilla extract, Anise flavor, put in a spray bottle, shake it good and in the woods spray around my stand and once in the tree spray a little more. It works! Been using it for over 30 years. Deer will actually sniff the grass you spray it on and be totally relaxed. Great tips for newbies.

      Very good tips! Thanks for sharing the mixture. I haven't tried scents much but it's interesting to know that it has worked for you and for so long. To also calm them is fascinating as well. Any information to help is always appreciated. Especially stuff that has consistently had results.

  • @SuperDave-pe1zw
    @SuperDave-pe1zw Před 27 dny

    To get deer coming to a new spot i mix apple corn in with the regular corn. It has a strong aroma they can smell a long ways away and the apple helps. If there are no apple trees it doesn't matter. They will come! Once i watch the camera for a week and there's some nice bucks I'll add rice bran pellets, cattle cubes 12 % and 20% . They love it ! Sometimes I'll put out alfalfa bales in the spots too and if hood spots I'll put minerals and water troughs. They drink them gone ! If they have everything in one spot they don't go far except to look for love ... lol. But late season they really hit the food to recover from the rut and by then not a lot in the woods for them .

    • @Outdoord
      @Outdoord Před 27 dny

      Thanks for sharing all of that. Ive always wondered about putting alfalfa bales out to see if the bucks would come. I also recommend putting some minerals down. Food & water the ultimate combo. The late season has always been tricky where I hunt. For some reason it's not as easy to get the buck in like early season. I think that's mostly due to hunting pressure and lack of cover.

    • @SuperDave-pe1zw
      @SuperDave-pe1zw Před 27 dny

      @Outdoord they like alfalfa best if you really break it up and spread it all around, I buy compacted alfalfa bales at tractor supply, it's really compressed so small but you cut it open it's a lot. I have bucks I've never seen or no pictures of come to the food late season, either because they're hungry or they'll follow a yearling doe to the corn. Bow season ends in Oklahoma January 15th. I shot a 157 10 pt on January 13th and another year a 140s 10 pt on January 15th. So never give up!!

    I have always been a big fan of face mask to control breath odor. As a kid i would chew apple flavored gum to mask my scent lol. Most likely, they pick up on the carbon dioxide from your breath. I watched a documentary on killer bees and the guys in suits would get hammered by the bees. But when they wore a breathing tube and their breath was exhausted through the tube, like 20 feet away, they could walk right up to the nest, the bees wouldn't pay attention to them at all.

    I don't have that many deer in my part of the country to need to feed as much of it as you use.

    I have a love hate relationship with Browning. They are nice cams, but the quality control sucks. I bought ten of a newer browning cameras, more expensive than those two. I have one that won’t turn on and two that drain lithium batteries in two weeks. Running Browning cameras for five years, that is a normal problem with their cameras. I don’t know why, but draining batteries is a bug they can’t seem to fix,,,

    • @Outdoord
      @Outdoord Před měsícem

      Did you reach out to customer service about the issues you are having? Please let me know. Sometimes a bad SD card can cause the batteries to drain. Also Browning has firmware updates listed on their website that fixes a lot of those issues you are referring to.

      I had a Browning camera drain my lithium batteries in just a couple weeks. Ended up being a cheaper SD card causing the problem. Only use SanDisk cards now and no problems

    An excellent and honest analysis. You see, I'm not discussing the camera's build quality and robustness, its reliability in detecting movement and its audio quality. I'm complaining about the video quality, the quality for releases in the middle of 2024 is very poor, the image lacks detail and is very pixelated during the day and very noisy when recording at night. I know the camera is more affordable, but it's not cheap. Look at the quality of the Gardepro cameras, which are much cheaper and have much better video quality. I think it's time Browning reviewed its concepts in terms of video quality. For those who are looking for video quality, only the HP4 and HP5 series exist today.

      I have both The HP4 & the HP5 they are my favorite all around Brownings for everything! They are hard to beat but it all depends on what everyone's budget is. The Browning lineup has something for everyone.

    Thanks for the review... I wish Browning brought back the old Advantage models, the best I have ever had by far .

    I just purchased this camera. My previous Browning gave me great service so wanted to try a new version of Browning. I’m using this strictly to capture wildlife on my property. Set up easy but for 3 nights not getting videos but know there is wildlife. Lithium batteries, new SanDisc SD card. Not using as a cellular camera. Watched your video and can’t find any setting I have wrong. Any suggestions? Many thanks

      I would call into Brownings customer service and let them check things on their end. Sometimes they figure it out that way. They can run some tests and also get you to check some things as well. Let me know what you find out!

    Tranx has centrifugal breaking system, Tatula you set the tension 1 time and adjust the mag break after that. Theres no comparison between the two, tatula all the way. I use Prorex 400 for larger baits up to 8oz and tatula 300 for up to 4oz I never backlashed either and I only touch the tension knob the first time out.

    No doubt they are all knock offs, or "inspired by" but most of those JDM baits are either expensive as hell, or are outta stock, so I gave em all a try, and keep in mind I'm a JDM guy, and the Crush City baits are a lil more durable, cheaper, and act just a lil different in a good way.
