Is that "Corn" used for livestock feed, or for human consumption? Because tractors are running over it - I'd imagine oil dirt etc is getting mixed into it by those machines.

@@sakurashogun The idea currently is that very little soil disturbance and lots of organic matter makes healthier soil in applicable soils. The wetter climates of say, Iowa, yes it would make more sense to incorporate it in some way, but this looks like a drier climate, where moisture is at a premium. This way could have the advantage of protecting seedlings until they are fully established, blocking weeds from getting sunlight(so they can't grow), and help keep moisture in the soil(helps with the prevention of evaporation).

@@sakurashogun hi, they also use a land roller after planting shorter crops like Lentils, because the plants are low to the ground, and you have to run your header close to the ground to harvest the seeds. By rolling, you can push rocks back into the ground, which helps prevents them from being picked up by thr combine, and damaging equipment. In this case the farmer may just be rolling to flatten the stubble

well you can do this...or use explosive to blow them into smaller pieces and them pick those pieces with a normal rock picker
