Since I'm about to purchase one of these motors, I was happy to see your video. My boat is a 20 ft trailer sailer on a big Swedish lake (Sommen). The fellow I bought the boat from (a Fabola Campus) is a flight technician at SAAB- he is an elektro freak and put in a 100A airplane battery in, with a solar panel. So, of course, I would like to use this. The new Ultima 3.0 model has a 30A lithium battery. So my first question is about the inverter: am I correct in assuming that I should go for a 30A unit? Next question: what is your maximum drain, in ampere? In your video you mentioned something like 2½ on low power. How high did you go? (I'm thinking about fuses.) Your note on making a contact was helpful. My son-in-law and fellow sailor is an electrician, so I'll put him on to the connections, etc. And my granddaughter's husband has a 3-D printer. Thanks for any help. I'll let you know about how it works for me. Maybe even a video. (Another granddaughter is learning how to make movies.)
Hi, thanks for your comment. A few things to cover. My battery lithium battery is the older 20ahr version, they now come with 30ahr which give a bit of extra time/range. 30amp-hour is the storage capacity, not the current drain. My 20ahr says that the max continuous drain is 35amps! That would relate to what the motor is drawing, so the 30ahr is probably rated the same. My motor was listed as about 40~50min at full power so that seems about right. Since this video, I had two problems (not related to the Haswing) which have meant I don't have extra details or the follow up video I expected to make, yet. First the mooring chain broke, and I had to put the boat on the hard stuff, then I got a sciatic nerve problem which limited my mobility for a while. Anyway the boat is back on the mooring now, and I have done some rewiring, but I haven't tested it in earnest yet, actually will probably do so in the next couple of weeks for some autumn sailing. I have put two 80a marine batteries in parallel at the back cavity (160a storage) which I have now wired to my solar panel, the original engine battery is now the house battery for radio, chart, etc. My intention is to keep the lithium battery stored on board for back up and only really use the 12v batteries. The 12v are the easiest to recharge. I found my inverter battery voltage got drawn down a bit under load, so I need to tweak that as the motor beeped for undervoltage so I need to have a closer look at the current flow, I may need to add a second inverter in parallel to up my current to the motor if I want full power... What I thought at the outset was only doing small maneuvers with 12v (low power) and if I wanted extra because of the weather or something then I'd pull out the "real" battery... I have made a little wireless battery gauge that sends me the house and drive battery levels back to my house, so I can monitor the battery status. My previous videos were intended to test out the motor itself, now I need to make that follow-up trial of my inverter system. If you are going to make one yourself, I warn you that creating the plug to fit in the top of the motor is the hardest part. Good luck.
Incredible! How come a great software can have such a drawback? I understand that it was probably not as profitable as the original owners thought, but if the new version is so limited...! This was so unratted! XtraNormal was the best animation app in the market...

Hi, I would like to kindly ask you where you got the plug so I could make an additional battery.
Unfortunately, I could never find a plug. I searched and asked Haswing. I had to create one. I got a couple of high current cylindrical lugs that fitted over the pins, and created a 3d printed housing for them. I soldered the wires onto each and fed back up into the housing, heat setting them into the position. Then I back filled the top with glue to create a seal over the top. The wires on the lugs are only short, I just fed them into a grunty terminal block so that I could connect to anything. best view is at 1.11
the connectors were xt150 6mm if I remember correctly
Thank you, after seeing you video I'll try it out for the tutorial I have to make.
Shame you can't just add two numbers together though. Seems like SUM only totals columns and rows.

Hi , would you mind share to us how to connect to a 12V battery and have a performance test , Thank You
I can give you some brief information for the moment. Actually, yesterday afternoon my mooring chain broke and I have just moved the boat back onto its trailer. The 12v is from my old marine starter battery. It runs through the old starter cables to the after quarter and terminates with an Anderson plug. In the plastic box is an Anderson connector running into a 20a inverter. It is set for 12v --> 30v. I originally had it set at 29v but noticed the motor load pulled the voltage down a bit and I got an alarm warning from the motor. I am not sure if I have a current adjustment that I need to tweak on the inverter. I seem to get a warning from the motor if I am on full power on 1hp, or over 1/2 power on 3hp. I will try that tweak once I get the boat back on the water again. Mooring repair comes first... The connection to the motor is a home made (3D printed) plug with two high current terminals inserted in it. I suspect I may be able to get better results from the inverter with some tweaking. For the moment it is sufficient for minor use, and lets me keep the main battery for situation when I need a solid longer run. The advantage of the 12v is that it recharges on my solar system.

I replace the batterie on a sphero sprk, everything goes well, expect for one thing, as soon as I remove it from the base, it lost connection link. And I m unable to power it on with regulars methods of shaking it a little bit, like before when batteries where working well. I use bigger batteries they are 600mah, maybe that's the issue? After few hours it stop charging, solid blue light on the base and 'pink' LEDs on sphero... A bit weird, is'n it? Do you think it could be a kind of 'time protection' with the charging process? I charge him only once and got only 3.85 volts each batteries, total of 7.65 volts. Do sphero should turn on at this voltage? Or voltage is too low? So, anyway, i decide to try charge again to see how long it charge before to stop if not completely charged. Then try again. Thanks for sharing. ✌🏻
Hi Adam, I have done 20 of these. I had 2 that didn't work - I think they "bricked". I don't know why that may have happened. It could be the way the batteries first connected back up to the unit. I did manage to use the same battery pack and base with a different top and that was fine. So two definitely didn't like something. I had the luxury of enough working that I didn't really follow up to discover why. Even when on the cradle I could not link to them anymore as if the bluetooth had dropped. If you can link to it when it is on the cradle you may be in luck. Check the wiring that you didn't get one of the batteries incorrectly wired. Good luck.

Hello, I can't find a new case. where do i get it from? and which glue?
Depends on where you live, I have seen them sold on Amazon, but not much help for me in NZ. They were sold here in a discount store, but I can't get them anymore. I recently replaced the batteries in 15 spheros using 3D printed shells with translucent PLA. The translucent PLA is sufficiently clear to enable aiming the sphero. There are some free shell designs on thingiverse. I had to increase the size to 102% perhaps because of inaccuracy with the tolerances of my 3D printer. The 3D shells are much stronger than the Xmas bauble version. As for glue I just used a brush on super glue. However for the 3D shell, I have also smeared a layer of epoxy glue along the seem to strengthen it more.
Michael's (the hobby store chain -- they have 3" diameter snap fit transparent shells) I paid less than $1 each, and picked up at one of their stores to save shipping.
What a glue? Please
Please, can you explain how can i do that ?
Not sure what part you need information about. The Pictures that get dragged- create one, then duplicate it a number of times and place it over the top of the previous ones. The lock function requires that you turn on the developer menu from the options area.
So I am in the process of replacing a set of batteries now that my delivery has arrived. I have given up on using the baubles as my local supply dried up. I wasn't successful in R4Z0R84's acetone extraction, so I continue to crack the shells, now carefully in a vice rather than the time consuming and dusty dremel way. I make 3D printed shells with a translucent PLA+ filament. 9 done so far - it is rather a slow process to print the shells with each half taking about 3 hours to print.
And how do I erase?
At the end of the show you are asked if you want to keep the annotations. If you keep them then they become objects on the slide which you can delete after selecting them.
that facebook message at 17 mins got me good, ours are about 5 years old, edit: got my batteries, used acetone(top ingredient) nailpolish remover and a cotton tip to run along the seam and it melted/destroyed the super glue in about one minute. Was able to use the shroud again. Batteries were a little too big.
I have a set of 30 batteries on order, which I hope will make it through the delivery service. My supply of 'baubles' dried up, so I am currently 3D printing shells. My first one didn't let enough light through to adequately see the aim light, but having shifted to a translucent PLA it is looking promising. Just waiting to see if the batteries come in within the size tolerance, and more importantly whether they actually get delivered. Will do an update if all goes to plan.
@@twictnet oh very nice I just did a search on eBay for clear bauble and the exact same ones you used are there, I'm just doing one first before attempting the other 14, the school's getting a new set since ours are 5 years old the new ones have many more features, if I can get these working for roughly $20 aud it's far cheaper than $333 for one, I look after 5 schools in Victoria so I'll be able to help them out with their old spheros as well, really keen to see what acetone does to the glue holding the original shells together.
@@twictnet my batteries arrived today, I went out and got some first ingredient acetone nail polish remover and used a cotton wool tip to go lightly around the seam of the sphero and it got in and melted the glue holding it together after about a minute, they then just fell apart without any tools to pull them apart or damage the shell, absolutely amazed but glad I don't have to get baubles anymore :)
I'd be interested in finding out more about how you got the shell apart. I have tried with acetone but just end up scraping out a wide channel and never got them to separate. (Diggers Acetone from Bunnings). Tried a gentle approach first with cotton buds but never go anywhere. I am still waiting on my next shipment of batteries, hoping they comply to the size I specified (aliexpress order). In the meantime I am making translucent 3D printed shells, which seem to work pretty well. I ran out of my supply of the baubles and have opted for printing a stronger version in PLA. The baubles are okay but there is a high attrition rate ;-( I switched my school over to sphero minis rather that replacing the SPRK+. Will work on resurrecting the SPRK+ but it is not a priority. Still the sphero chariot lesson doesn't work properly with mini's!!! czcams.com/video/GmldVnCnQ44/video.html

702035 is the exact one used, you just need to get one the same physical size if can't get that. There was a shortage of batteries for a while so the Hubsan 107c was a substitute it had a lower maH. Depends where you live as to what will be available.

@@twictnet those ones are very similar to the ones I got but were slightly too long(had to modify the internal case slightly) to get them to fit and fold the yellow part a bit, they still fit and last much longer though. So grateful to be able to get one of these going again for the school, I'll bring it into the school next Thursday when schools back and see if they want me to fix their others I'm just the specialist technician so it's completely out of my job description but I love tinkering haha 😂
@Caleb Webb The batteries I tried to order from eBay, got cancelled by the supplier. I order some others directly from AliExpress, and had to wait a short manufacturing time, then shipping. But got 30 successfully. However, I did insist that they worked to a specific size specification. Was happy with them.
Thank you for the video. I have, "Speak Cells," and, "Stop Speaking," in Microsoft 365. I do not see, " Speak Cells on Enter," in Excel Options -> QAT -> All Commands. Is there anything I need to do?
Yeah, that video is pretty old, but just went into my Office365 Excel and it is still listed there in the All Commands menu. You should be able to see Speak Cells; Speak Cells - Stop Speaking; Speak Cells by Columns; Speak Cells by Rows; Speak Cell on Enter. Are you in the Customize Quick Access menu?
How much longer did the new batteries last?
They are still going strong. The issue we had was our technician had put the cradles on a time switch to charge each night. That is a bad move as it tricks the units into clocking charge cycles, they need to be left on the cradle to idle, and powered down completely and taken off the cradle for long term storage. With a time switch they bleed off power then recharge, whereas if left on-charge they just top up.
This didn't work for me, there was no Shockwave object.
Thank You! Really helpful but how can I use batteries for this so that I could take out the wire?
the motors need a direct power supply to the motor controller, that power supply can also drive the arduino so you can have just one power supply. In tinkercad don't have a convenient motor control module to be able to show that wiring. you can see a picture of the motor controller in this other video on the channel czcams.com/video/hljoHpAlImk/video.html

Hello there, could I connect multiple scorekeeper sheets to create a statistical table that shows students' performance from the beginning to the last day of the course?
Well it might be a bit of a mission, but you could create a separate spreadsheet that vlookup each scoresheet to then graph/chart. vlookup is a powerful tool for aggregating data.

Hello, First I would like to thank you, short of making my website, this was the second best option to have everything what I need. However, I will have to do everything from zero since I cannot download the copy. My questions are: 1. GOOGLE SHEETS INSTEAD OF EXCEL - Is it possible to do this in Google Sheets - and make sure it opens properly on a mobile phone, since I want to share it in JUST VIEW mode with my students. 2. A SCOREBOARD PER CLASS - I would like one scoreboard for each class (team) with each student having a separate button. Would it be much easier to make each class in a new sheet rather than add all of the teams like you did here? That is, I would make one sheet for one class, duplicate it and change the names. 3. ADD OR SUBTRACT, DATE, SHORT NOTE with each point - And finally, the last crucial element on my list of requirements: Can I somehow add a timestamp and a short note for each point added or subtracted? That is, when I want to add or subtract a point, I click on a student's name. A window opens, I choose the following: ADD or SUBTRACT and how many points, DATE, SHORT NOTE (late, no books, participates etc.). I want the students to see their points and the points of everyone else, you have shown that on the second sheet, but the part with the date and note is important for me to have it all written down.
Hi Ivana, lots to answer here but not particularly good news. So, you should be able to download this file from the link in the comments, I checked and it is still working. However, it is an xlsm file which means that it is macro enabled, so you have to approve macros to open and use it. The macros are the key to why it doesn't just translate into a google sheet, and they are the basis of the buttons. Sheets is still a very stripped down alternative to excel and there are lots of things you won't be able to do with it. Looking at all you seem to want to do, you are probably better with a database rather than a spreadsheet. Also if you want to get it with different 'views' and open on a mobile, you really need to be making an App. You can get the timestamp and notes working on google sheets if you turn on iteration, and I have videos of that, and the timestamping feature which I use in an attendance system (see other videos on this channel or on the website www.twict.net). I think your overall goals might be a bit ambitious for a spreadsheet. Especially when you try to combine all the features you mention. Have you looked at premade solutions such as classdojo etc? The spreadsheet given here was designed for local use on the teacher's computer displayed on an electronic whiteboard, or display. You are welcome to customise it to suit but to really get what you are considering I think you will have to start from the beginning in a mobile App creation program. The good news is that if you make it, you could probably sell it too. : - )
@twictnet Hi, thank you so much for the feedback. It is nice to see that someone actually responds to their comments. I have done my „research“ before choosing this, and I wasn't pleased with my options either because they don't fit my needs completely, or because I am a perfectionist (or a little bit of both). Regarding the first question, that is good news. I managed to make a Google sheet that consists of the list of names (just written in cells, they aren't buttons so changing them is easy). I created a separate button for adding and subtracting for each student. It took a while, but it works great. I used these instructions: productivityspot.com/spin-button-google-sheets/ Furthermore, since I can duplicate it, I can simply make a new Google Sheet for each class without having to do everything from the scratch. I can easily change names, reset points for the next year as well. As for the students being able to see it, I created a separate sheet with a chart - it has names of each student, number of points and it is colourful. In order for students to see it, I just have to publish that single sheet as website and send them a link - it looks great on the computer and on the phone, and I don't have to republish it since it updates automatically every 5 minutes. As for the last part, I did it a bit differently - though I am not finished. If I figure it out, I will let you know. Apps and websites, I'm a beginner so that is a bit advanced for me: In a column next to the points, I added a drop down menu (items such as: +1 point for good behaviour, -1 point for being late etc.) Now, I created one sheet per student in the same Google Sheet. What I still have to do is the following: - I click on an item in the drop down menu for student A. - Automatically, that item gets a timestamp and it is saved in the sheet for the student A. And this happens every time I choose an item, every edit in a separate row with a timestamp. I will have to look up some of your other videos, I have found similar options, I just have to sort it all out. Thank you once again, Kind regards and have a nice day,
Hey, you have been busy. I like your website/chart publishing option, good move. The key to time stamping is to use iteration to stop a circular loop - try putting this in C3 =IF(A3<>"",IF(C3="",NOW(),C3),"") where A3 is the target cell. When it is empty nothing is put in C3 is left blank, but if any value is put in A3, a timestamp is put into C3, the cell with this formula. However, you can't change the value in C3 unless you delete the contents of A3 first... A3 is the trigger and the lock for the timestamping. Best of luck for your project. Make sure you turn iteration on - under formulas or you will just get a circular reference error.
@@twictnet Hi, thank you for this. Had it not been for your video, I would still have been looking for a way to make a scoreboard. This will be useful for the last part. Thank you!
Thank you so much all the other videos where only showing how to do this on Windows!
Can you add and subtract
clicking on a button adds the default (+1) to the tally for that group. to subtract you need to click on their tally score and type in the value you wish. if you wanted to regularly reduce the scores then you could create a duplicate set of buttons below the add which default to minus 1.
I just love you.
i want only team names button and no other how can i delete the buttons?
you can go through the file and delete what you don't want, or make one, it is basically just a table. I have two versions of just the 6 team table available on the website sites.google.com/a/twict.net/www/excel-timestamping go to the bottom of the to the file area
How did you line all the check boxes up? Can you do the same with radio buttons? I want to use them but find it to hard to place them as it takes ages and don’t lock to the cell
Yes, lining them up and modifying them is a tedious job, that is what prompted me to move to a sign-out scan system as an alternative in subsequent iterations. At one point I tried inserting a row with disastrous consequences for the alignment. I think working with a limited (small) number is fine but when you want to have lots as I tried, it becomes more trouble than its worth. Sorry doesn't help you much, your best bet is to try and set up a line on the screen to help as a guide.
Hello. I really have a similar attendance sheet but I want to be able to scan students ID into it. Would you be able to take a look at the document and advise on how I can scan time in and time out on this excel document please?
You just use a barcode scanner to read into your target cell. Then vlookup your data based on the scanned information (unique id number). The scan can be done with a dedicated barcoder laser hand unit or from a webcam with software like Katanshi Barcode Reader.
Can anyone tell me if its possible using this formula to update when text is changed in a cell. It works great to time stamp when going from an empty cell to value but not from one value to a different value. This is what i am using- =IF(O3<>"",IF(P3="",NOW(),P3),"")
generally this is trying to avoid people changing data and thereby altering the timestamp. The if statement is trying only run when it move from empty to full, but you can change to whatever variation you want, it all depends on your purpose.
