PART FIVE -PARK LIFE
Welcome back to our Thailand series. We’re picking up the trip right after our landing in Chiang Mai. First off, let’s do a quick room tour of my room at The Chimes, located in the city center.
The next morning we grab a quick breakfast before we take off for our day trip to the famous Doi Inthanon National Park. We're here for three days, and want to spend the first day exploring outside the city. We hired a driver for the day so that we can customize our visit to see some of the popular tourist sights in the park.
The drive takes about two hours, with a quick rest stop at a modern coffee shop. After paying the entrance fee at the Visitor’s Center, we head to see the Twin Pagodas.
Situated on the hillside, the pagodas are impressive in their symmetry and placement. At their elevations, they also are great opportunities to look at the whole park.
Next door is the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail, an energetic 2.5 kilometer hike that also provides sweeping views of the valley.
We take a lunch break inside the Royal Agricultural Station. They have an outdoor restaurant with a vast Thai menu, popular with tourists. Lastly, we finish our tour day at Wachirathan Waterfall, one of the many waterfalls in the park.
That evening, we finally get to eat local food by heading to Neng Earthen Jar Roast Pork - an outdoor restaurant, famous for its pork and barbecue. We over-ordered but thoroughly enjoyed the meal. For dessert, we waited for a banana egg roti from a famous stand on the streets.

hate to be a downer - but me, my wife and boys will be here in November. everything looks great from the beach, the resort and the restaurant options.... but i am concerned about Montezuma's revenge. 2 families we know who just came back from Cancun (different resorts) mentioned they had severe tummy issues during their trip. Did anyone in your crew have any problems? if not, Any ideas on how to avoid them? thanks
Tradewinds has tough tiny "steaks", if you want a real steak they charge extra and it's more expensive that morton's in California.
is this turquoize at hyatt ziva? if not, is this the same resort. so people that stay at turquoize could eat at these restaurants?

yes, almost all food is inclusive. there are upgrades for specials meats and alcohols.

yes, the selection is pretty broad. they have American style breakfast items available.

Thanks! they did have some non-dairy milks available, especially at the smoothie bar. Not so sure about other types of food allergens. I would make sure to inform the resort before arrival.

As far as I know, ordering a Tomahawk requires an extra fee. Which restaurant has Tomahawk tasting? Is it free?
Any extra premiums were an additional fee. I don't recall any tomahawk offerings during our stay - but it's likely to be at Tradewinds, the onsite steak restaurant.
Is smoking/vaping allowed? Are they strict?

They only charge for speciality menu items. Otherwise, all is included.

Thanks for catching that! It was a mistake on the original video but I can't edit it. The dinner was $201.49 or $50.05/ea USD.
Cardinal rule of Mexicans pastries is never eat them without coffee. They can be rather dry on their own. Probably why the samaritan bought you guys coffee on your first day.

Torta Cubana doesn’t actually mean Cuban torta lol. It’s meant as a way to say a torta with every meat. I believe it’s named after a street, not the country.
