Truly superb videography again Dronehawk! Many thanks…you’ve excelled again this time…you must have spent many hours editing your video footage. It’s wonderful to see a railway coming to life again. Any idea when they plan to have the line re-opened yet? I’m looking forward to watching your video reports when they seriously begin to re-building the line from Athenry to Tuam and Claremorris. My late relative Bill Mannion….who lived in Tuam….was a great supporter of the railway’s re-opening. I think you’ll soon be videoing the section work being undertaken between Athenry and Claremorris….but I think reopening from Claremorris to Collooney Junction is a long way off yet! Keep up your excellent reports and I wish you many more happy hours of work on our behalf. Thank you so much for your efforts! Rob in Bournemouth, Dorset.

You could build at least 2 bike sheds with €32million... Great video, my thoughts are this is a great project but our government wouldnt have done this without EU directive. This is a European top down Ten-t project order to Ireland to complete so the folks building this railway cant build rail elsewhere until this is done. My only doubts are will this rail service see much freight from foynes port when built as we dont see much rail to/from dublin with Rosslare taking no rail freight at all.

A direct east to west approach by sea to Ireland from most of the rest of Europe isn't usually feasible because the enormous land mass of Britain gets in the way. Much of the shipping from mainland Europe approaches Ireland from the south, having travelled along the English Channel/La Manche and then turning north at the south western tip of Cornwall.
