So- my name is Christopher Weitz- I am the Great Grandson (one of several) of Guy Weitz. We have many recordings of this famous work. When my grandfather died, it was played at his funeral. I’m 44 now. Listened to many performances of this - and this is a great one. My great grandfather moved from Belgium and even taught Nicolas Danby in Farm St Church, London
Thank you for your reaction! In 2016 Susan Warburton-Weitz and Philippa Weitz came to Ypres where I played Guy Weitz' works at the cathedral. In 2017 I was in Epsom (UK) to play a concert and I saw Philippa there again. Your great grandfather's musical legacy is huge, not only by the music he left but also by his influence on organ building in the UK / USA in the period 1930 - 1950. So I'm glad you found this video! My regards and respect to your family!
Wow!
A simply love this peace of music! They play it in a gloriuos way and with majesty!
Both organs are impressive, However, this is played way too fast. The massive chords can not develop in the acoustical environment.
Antwerp Cathedral doubly blessed with it's lovely instruments. Beautiful city, shame that Cafe t'Toreke is no longer in (?) Korte Gasthuisstraat...
Love it
Too bad this sounded like a mono recording
Too fast. It's lost in the building.
Thank you for your reply. Yesterday we searched the building and we found it back 👊
Awesome!!!
Marvelous ! What a magnificent rendition ! Congrats !
This was awesome!
Awesome!!
Oh, this is absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for recording it!
Trust me, if you are there at the cathedral and they play this piece; no echo's, just the chills and joy of listening to this life is overwhelming! I can know, beacuse I work in this cathedral and have the privilige to hear them each week.
Great job! Beautiful piece
Good performance but you should play it a more romantic way
Would have loved being there. This is a quadraphonic music (not stereo).
Absolutely marvelous !!! Congrats !!!
Astounding, superb. Gave chills!
Very nice indeed. There's also a great recording of Weiss music on Priory Cd's uk by Paul Derrett
Yes! Paul Derret played this at my grandpa’s funeral in Cheltenham! I know him personally
Groots geluid ! Alles is duidelijk.
Phenomenal performance.
Grandiosa composizione e stupenda interpretazione. 👍
AMAZING!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!
Gorgeous church & organ(s) but yes, too fast for clarity. Muddled. But by now you know that.
My favorite version!

Splendid
Not in stereo? Slightly too fast. Wonderful nonetheless!
LOL.....this is so corny, but yet so eclectic and fantastically great!!!!!
Way to go guys!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Excellent choreography, guys. Thanks for posting.
One of the most impressive performances I have ever heard!
In this case I think bigger and older is not better. The Metzler organ has such a crisp sound, it makes this piece sound much better. If it also had a couple charmades that would make it even better.
Wow, meesterlijk. Kippenvel krijg je hiervan!
When I was a choir boy at Grace Church in Providence in the early 1960s the organist, Fred Cronhimer, a student of Dupré, used to do a call-and-response using the two Casavant organs, 4400 pipes in the gallery, and 2200 pipes in the chancel. He told me that since he was in the chancel he had to start playing the chancel response before the sound from the gallery ended so that it would sound right to the audience in the nave.
A real dialog, great!
heel mooie uitvoering, warme strijkers!
Absolutely beautiful!
Fantastic. I would sell my grandmother to be able to do what these artists do.
And just exercising few times a week is enough :D :D No grandmother selling needed :D :D
Poor old lady...to be sold by her grandson...for a pipe organ concert rendition...But depending of the old lady, may be this would be worth while...
Fantastic! I also *love* this organ. I played it in 1987 when the Hervomde Cantorij from Meppel sang in the service (I was 16 :-) )
B R A V O ! :)
Grandios!!!
I'd love to have heard this in person. So grand and beautiful!
WOW!!!!.......my heart is RACING just listening to this!!!!
