In this tutorial I'll show you how to create large scale oceans in Blender with foam. This version has been updated for Blender 2.93 and includes a new technique for layering the ocean bakes.

    Why doesn't anybody ever talk about lighting the projected scene? No tutorials on how to use lights in a Camera Projection Map scene... Why?

      Because it's hard to make it look good. The lighting is already baked into the photo for one thing, and rather than using cards you would need to model everything in 3D to match the scene or otherwise the light won't interact with everything properly. But feel free to try it, in the shader just plug the texture into the base colour rather than the emission and add some lights.

    Hi Dylan, thank you for this. If you wanted to adapt the volumetric light / emission shader to the curvature of a sphere (planet), how would you approach this? As it is now light follows a straight line/axis.

    I have a problem: My ocean looks super low poly in close up when i render. In viewport it looks fine, but soon as i render it looks like i havent applier subdivions or no shade smooth. Helppppp

    i dont know guys everyone in videos somehow make this looking efficient but the truth is my personal expierence with redshift or octane for blender its unusable compare to cycles im using a 3060 6gb laptop gpu and blender 3.6 with the latest redshift avaliable right now ,viewport its just cant work and in general everything seems laggyi followed every setiing to make it optimize but didnt work...

    Hello, I just wanted to know that why my ocean in render lay is all flat no waves at all. I did everything correct till 33:26 but in the render its all flat. But when i switch to material preview i can see its water but when i see it from sideways its flat like a 2D waves on a flat. Please Help

    This is a great video, thank you for sharing. Maybe you can answer a situation I continuously run into. When previewing each of my passes before export, Ambient Occlusion is either true white or true black. It does not appear to have any of the grey values that I really need from an Ambient Occlusion pass. It currently looks more like a mask between objects and world / transparent. This issue does not appear to be associated to the Ambient Occlusion material node; when adding, it has no effects to the Ambient Occlusion pass and only adds to the material itself. The AO pass remains true white / black. What am I doing wrong here?

    Id recommend y'all to use alt tab ocean modifier, it's free version is really well made and its large scale oceans don't make your systems to crash so try it out .
