    A mixture of a designer, an eccentric physics professor, a philosopher ... and now even a comedian (I had to laugh so hard). Objekt-de opened a pop-up store in Berlin's Torstrasse on Friday with a preview of the new a/w collection. In fact, Objekt's style fits this neighborhood like a cliché :-).

I was actually near the shop at the weekend and would of course have taken photos for you if I had known about it :-). You would love the area around the shop, it's very similar to Orchard Street with its art galleries, restaurants and alternative fashion stores. Thank you very much for your interesting and personal videos! It is exciting to watch your travels in your search for your personal style. It seems that simple and pure suits you very well and therefore I wonder all the time how the menswear by Jil Sander ("The Queen of Clean Chic") would suit you. These clothes are incredibly expensive, but if you studied their design language, you could find and try something less expensive. I wish you continued joy and success on your journey!

    • @FineasJackson
      @FineasJackson Před 10 dny

      Jil Sander is one I've been meaning to look into. The Queen of Clean is such a fantastic catch phrase! The prices are insane, out of range-for now. The style reminds me a bit of Eileen Fisher, which I really like as well. I went to the shop the other day and tried on some of the clothes (I know they are women's). Some of the cuts were beautiful and I had to talk myself out of buying a t-shirt. Definitely an aesthetic I will be exploring! Thank you for the recommendation!

    • @raw268
      @raw268 Před 10 dny

      Thank you very much for your reply! I think it's great that you're crossing boundaries between menswear and womenswear in your search for your style, because it really opens you up to new experiences with different fabrics and cuts! I would like to apologise for suggesting Jil Sander! It has obviously been far too long since I have seen clothes from this company. Jil Sander has sold her company and hasn't worked for them for a long time and I have just realised that the design that is now on offer has very little to do with the original! Her minimalist style with clear lines and sharp cuts always reminded me of the Bauhaus motto: "form follows function". So I withdraw my suggestion! Have you ever considered consulting a professional Personal Colour Analysis? I am aware that such advice limits your freedom to wear whatever you like, but on the other hand it also helps you to choose colours consciously and thus to be able to control your spending on clothes more strategically.

    • @FineasJackson
      @FineasJackson Před 9 dny

      Thank you for your reply! I love these long form conversations, and the fact that this video is becoming a style forum of sorts! A professional Personal Colour Analyst is a very interesting suggestion. I would definitely like to meet one and discuss colour and how it fits into my own style, but to be honest, I like spending everything I have on clothes. I know it sounds crazy, and in some ways it limits other aspects of my life, but it feels like it unlocks the ultimate freedom to explore. I'm at the age where I'd rather spend now when the money is less important and try to build something meaningful to me, in hopes that the spending and subsequent exploration can carry me through the rest of life. That being said, if you know of any, please let me know! Exploration is the key word for me, and I'm happy to try anything and everything that will help advance my style and taste. Thank you again for your comment and for the great conversation!

    • @raw268
      @raw268 Před 9 dny

      You're right, you shouldn't lose the fun in the process! After all, clothing is a form of communication and styles and colours can say a lot. The only suggestion I can give you is not to take clothing too seriously; it is one way of expressing yourself - and you should be aware of what you are "saying" - but it is also just one way among many others. At the end of the day, it's just fashion, nothing more, but also nothing less. I think the most important thing is to persue your dreams and enjoy doing it.

      @@FineasJackson I ordered from Gutteridge, a brand I got to know thanks to your Rome video. So you are now officially a fashion influencer ;-). The parcels will arrive next week. In the meantime, I've watched all the videos by and about Gutteridge that I could find and I've done a lot of research into the characteristics of Neapolitan tailoring. If you know of any other brands with classic Italian “sprezzatura style” that can be bought online in Europe and that are in a similar price and quality category to Gutteridge, I would be very grateful. Do you know Sciamat? Some of their pieces are perhaps more art than wearable fashion, but I find it so interesting how they take the Italian idea of deconstructing the stiff English suit to an extreme.

    • @FineasJackson
      @FineasJackson Před 12 dny

      Yes, Gutteridge is a fantastic choice! I found a different brand in Rome called Strategic Business Unit. They are a bit more expensive, but of an incredibly high quality. Better than Gutteridge, in my opinion. Their website is weird though, and everything says sold out (at least for me in the US). I feel like they may just not ship to the US, because when you switch to other languages, the products are available to purchase. It may be worth looking into, if you are interested. Also, I stumbled on this brand Boglioli while shopping one day in NYC. They are also more expensive-out of my price range, but the stuff was definitely class. Velasca for shoes-the best for the price by a wide margin (at least from what I have seen). Sciamat is new to me; thank you for the recommendation!

Dressing more formally, as I do, is definitely unique at my school and for my age group, but I just love clothes and putting cohesive outfits together. Italy has been an inspiration for me; the men are incredibly polished here. More recently, I’ve been adding additional details to my outfits like handkerchiefs, as they add a lovely touch of color and visual interest. I will definitely do an about me style video at some point, and I will check out your video from Italy. -ciao
