Interesting your teaching background Hollie like so many here I consider myself fortunate to meet both Colin and Jimmy way back in New Zealand when over there from Australia. But regarding teaching I have interacted with many teachers especially Math Teachers and pointed out how to engage with students by showing the students for instance where Math and Calculus fits into Motorsport for instance, Suddenly Sine and Cosine etc make much more sense when you show students how it fits into designing performance exhaust systems especially when it comes to two stroke expansion chambers then there is brake balance suspension etc. So teaching can become totally surreal for both the teachers and students when approached from a different perspective relating to applications in the real world that few realise makes it become not just a profession that not enough understand. THis bear in mind comes from a Technician/Fabricator who has worked at upper levels in Motocross, Road Racing and built many Rally Cars, Roll cages, Suspension and assorted power plant conversions and Yes back in the Day rare in Australia actually built MK 2 RS1800's with Cosworth BDG engines, Nissan Violets, owned an Ex Shea Mehta Nissan PB 210 that even NIssan themselves do not have a copy of in their Museum. So bring this style of thinking to those you know in the Education system as all can benefit from thinking outside the sqaure

Hope it is going well? I have just finished after 32 years and am going back to being a self employed carpenter. The first 15 were good but I wish I had left at least ten years ago. It has changed so much in recent years and the pressure is through the roof and if your life isn’t 100% teaching (to the exclusion of family and interests) you are not good enough!!! Hope it has been a good year. Happy Christmas!

Hi Hollie! I wondered... did you put any information about your employer / contract of the job you were to take on travelling to Japan? As I've red in a few places on the internet, that the purpose of the "working holiday" visa in Japan is with a big focus on "HOLIDAY" and that it is safer to NOT include any of your employers details and pretend as if you don't have any type of work lined up just yet?

You and your Japan Diary videos have been so helpful and fun to watch! I honestly felt as though i was also on the trip, having fun, partying, seeing new places etc. I almost felt sad the videos had to end since it looked like such a good time. I'm also surprised you had just met those colleagues! There were such good vibes between you all. This honestly gives me so much motivation to keep going and achieve my dream of going to Japan and possibly living there someday.

My wife is from Japan. I am a Japanese American from Hawaii and so English is my native language. My wife can understand American English, but she has trouble understanding other English speakers -- British, Scottish, Filipino, Indian, etc. Funny. I can understand everything except perhaps Scouse.
