XXV Regatta "Admiral-Count of Barcelona"
zhlédnutí 862Před 14 lety
A brief pictorial review of the participation by 'Carpe Diem I' in the 25th "Admiral-Count of Barcelona" regatta, in Palma de Mallorca (August, '09). At 1:33 the scenario changes to the awards ceremony, held inside the [summer] Royal Palace, an 11th century Moorish castle in the old port. The man in the checked shirt (in the middle) is King Juan Carlos de Bourbon, who gave out the trophies. The...
Jussi Bjoerling -- Nessun Dorma (Live at Carnegie Hall)

This is a fabulous rendition, done by command performance, no less listen closely at 00:09 thru 00:11 secs as a patron screams out for ND! "The Juice" then pulls the sheet music from a folder, and waives it in the air like a banner, to the audience's evident delight, and then belts out this formidable rendition.
AVE MARIA (Bach/Gounod) -- Anna Moffo: Dazzling!
zhlédnutí 1,3MPřed 16 lety
This exquisite rendition of the technically challenging Gounod "Ave Maria" is simply the best. Anna Moffo, justly known as 'La Splendissima,' was never better! It took years of searching to find this recording. Having heard scores of other versions (while searching for this one), I can state that this is simply the best.
Absolutely incredible voice.
Enfim o REI! ❤ Seguido de José Carreras .
Stunning interpretation... Stunning😍
I skipped this concert, when I told a friend, in New York, not to buy tickets for it. In fact, I had already heard Bjoerling, live, 5 times, @ 3 different venues, including Carnegie Hall, & never failed to feel disappointed, by the lesser satisfaction his unamplified, smallish voice provided, in a large hall, compared to the much greater enjoyment experienced at home, when listening to his recordings, as witness the vastly greater pleasure the lp release of the '54 Carnegie Hall recital, has always given me, vs. my memory of the same performance, live, that night, when I was in the audience. It's why I didn't want to do the '58 concert, @ the same venue, when according to reports, he projected a lot better. Indeed, the press, afterwards was ecstatic, & compared him to Caruso, I say, Bah, Humbug!
SUBLIME VERSION ! BRAVO MME MOFFO !
I wouldn’t say Mr. Bjorling “belted it out.” I’d say he sang a beautiful rendition of the piece.
Bjorling is the greatest tenor who ever lived
That’s the best version of this aria I’ve ever heard and it’s Live ! 😂 Bravo Love evermore to you !
A commanding performance. Bravo Jussi👏👏👏
Brilliant
God Bless Kate Smith.
Nossa que lindoooooooo !!!!!!!!
Que voz! Belíssima como um anjo. Tão sublime. Brava!
Che meraviglia sentir cantare Anna
Magnificent! God singing!
DIVINA!
Power, passion and sincere spirituality. A wonderful rendition.
As far as Tenors go he was The G.O.A.T.
Che meraviglia Bravissima Musicale molto bello Anna Moffo Signora il vicino Signore Riposo Felice! !🙏🙏🙏
Amazing Voice ! Bellissima
That audience member who shouted out his request for this aria probably always told the story of how Bjoerling heard him and graciously granted his request! Why not! But he usually sang this as one of his final encodes in recitals during this later part of his career.
As did Pavarotti!
Sooo beautiful... it hurts the soul and the heart and makes them fly. So exquisitely glorious.
Saludos
The best
Utterly magnificent. Cannot listen without tears in my eyes.
Franco Corelli
Inimitable.
Wow. Thought he would run out of steam with that phrasing, but nope. Fuck yeah
The greatest tenor ever. He will never be eclipsed
Bjorling is my favorite Calaf of all time.
Yes I think you mean the aria and complete recording he made of the opera with Nilsson, but live in the opera house he never sang the role, that role live was a great fit for Corelli but his was a different kind of voice, less lyric and more Spinto and dramatic a voice compared to the more Lyric beauty and perfection of Jussi, his voice and singing, which was of a very high artistic level.
@@shicoff1398 Thank you for your reply. I believe he was a light tenor, who sang but did not perform his characters.
@@bobbibaker4685 Well he did sing some roles that where heavier then the lighter Lyric ones, like Manrico in Trovatore which he sang often here and in Europe with success, his recording of Trovatore with Warren and Milanov from 1952 is excellent, as is the 1955 Aida recording with Milanov and the Turandot recording complete with Nilsson from 1959, his signature role in Boheme, recorded in 1956 with De Los Angeles is the standard greatest Boheme recording which all others are compared with and it also was his Met. opera debut in 1938. He died at age 49 in 1960.
Great!, But surprised he took it down a half step
Yes, later (as this was for Jussi at age 47 in 1958) in his live singing as in Boheme and also Trovatore, he sometimes did transpose down, as did many others, including greats like Pavarotti and Corelli.
Absolutely fabulous, with a brilliantly animated Jussi singing with the usual thrill -- how I love to listen to his recordings, watch his movie and TV appearances on video. (notice the Black first violinist just behind him? That's liberal Sweden even in those days-- all best musicians accepted to the orchestra, disregarding creed and color, not like segregated 1950s America, even in the arts, back then!)
Such a beautiful placed voice. Such economy of tone..no growling…pure sound with clean harmonics.
How well put. It is something extra.
Magnificent voice. One of, if not the greatest ever.
Bravo maestro bgiorling ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
A finer tenor never lived! He was a perfectionist technically, the expression and voice control superb. He was the master of his craft!
Totally agree. But the whole thing is, that he never understood how talented he was. Yes, he got the gigs and he worked around the world. There are very few talents that I am going to experience during my lifetime.
-Luciano Pavarotti
An unparalleled talent. No one comes close in tone, warmth, power and control in pianissimo, expression or technique.
@@ulfwiback8911 Yes, many of us are familiar with Pavarotti‘s appreciation of Jussi's abilities.
Un tenor de tronío.
The greatest tenor ever lived!
Yes I agree with you. His voice is so refined, such versatility. He could use powerful vocals and sweetness in his scintillating voice.🇸🇪..
Caruso. Enrico Caruso was The Best. Compare the two.
@@c9380I did that and Björling came out as the better…
😢😭🤭, This is so beautiful, beautiful voice color. 🤤🥰 My personal favorite is Mario del Monaco version and especially from 1953,but Björling even has more beautiful voice color, such a romantic voice.
Wow! Kate really felt, and made us feel, all the emotion of a song. She lived the lyrics! And, well, her voice was just magnificent! What a perfect carol for her to sing!
He did have something in his voice
Tenors may come and go.J.B. lives on. No need for further comment.
I thought Pavarotti owned this song until now
Only your personal opinion owns it.
The best ever!. Nothing can compare!
What a glorious voice!
Almost as good as Eric Adams
At this time, he was called. The swedish Caruso
Some exaggerations in the comments below - he is great but there were some more phenomenal voices out there during / after his time , example: czcams.com/video/Eg-59NoES2o/video.html
Just discovered this...what a magnificent voice. This was perfect and most beautiful
we all know who owns this aria....even into his sixties never mind 40's as Bjorling is here.
You mean Corelli right?
@@davidclerget9401 don't be facetious....however Franco carved out a niche all his own.
@@pavarotti744 Yes, Corelli carved out a niche for himself singing about 75 live performances of Calaf's in his career to Bjorling's ZERO live performances of the same role.
