Hello! I make Sonic sprite animations as well as find glitches and unused content within the Sonic games.
Genesis/Megadrive/Mark III/Master System/Game Gear Sonic games will be shown here.
Principalmente solo problemas técnicos, secretos y contenido no utilizado. Tenía un viejo canal que solía usar, pero ya no lo uso más.

Sonic 3 Prototype - Drop Dash Analysis
In the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 November 3rd, 1993 prototype, Sonic has the Drop Dash ability from Sonic Mania. But how is this possible? Is it really a bug as some people have claimed?

Sonic 3 Prototype - Fixing the Launch Base Zone Tower Collapse
zhlédnutí 3,2KPřed 2 měsíci
If you've ever tried playing through the Sonic 3 November 3rd, 1993 prototype, you've no doubt got stuck at the end of Launch Base Zone Act 1. Knuckles bombs the tower, then... nothing! While it is possible to progress using a developer function seen here: czcams.com/video/o_fRrI0c-aA/video.html It is actually possible to get the collapse sequence to work properly in the prototype! Fix bounds c...
Sonic 3 - Are Super Sonic's Green Eyes a Mistake?
zhlédnutí 15KPřed 4 měsíci
On Twitter/X, a tweet circulated which allegedly proves in full certainty that Super Sonic's green eyes in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 were nothing more than a developer oversight. But, is this really the case? That's the difficult question that I attempt to address today.
Sonic 3 - Unused Special Stage Color Palette

In Sonic 3, there is an unused, default, yet unique Special Stage color palette. Some of the screenshots used in this video were taken from ZonE: 0. They host the most comprehensive guides to the 16-bit Sonic games on the internet. Check them out here: www.soniczone0.com/
Sonic 3 - Unused Water in Launch Base Zone
zhlédnutí 4,7KPřed 6 měsíci
In Sonic 3, there is unused data for water to appear in Launch Base Zone Act 1. This is a brief look at the data that is left intact. This is a topic that I wanted to cover a lot sooner. Better late than never, I suppose. Codes to restore water: -Prototype- 00506E:0C38 or HBJA-A2DR 005070:0006 or A3JA-AADT -Final- 005EC0:0C38 or HBSA-A2GA 005EC2:0006 or A3SA-AAGC
Sonic 3 - Angel Island Zone Lost Boss Attack

In Sonic 3, there are unused cannon sprites for the Angel Island Zone Act 2 boss. This video was a little more technical than usual, but hopefully I explained and visualized everything well enough. Let me know what you think. Also, I still have a plethora of topics I would like to get to at some point, but if the bosses interest you specifically, let me know.

The Sonic 3C 0408 prototype is well known for the special palette in Lava Reef Zone Act 2, but what if that color palette was never actually intended? I completely forgot about this the other day, but it probably deserves a video of its own anyways.

Wanna know something interesting? The thing shooting missiles at you will only make a laser type noise if you have on an electric shield. Maybe it's all 3, I just know when I had an electric I was like wait wtf, I've never heard it make this noise. All I know is he won't make that sound if you don't have a shield.
W ROM HACK L SONIC 3 AIR MODS
dunno how to hack or is this game genie cuz i know how to game genie
yes, yes they are. the data select portrait for super sonic has black eyes. the ending sprite for super sonic has black eyes. you know how knuckles' sprites have a tan crescent right? his ending sprite has a white crescent, like he's supposed to. that probably means while the in-game sprites have green eyes for super sonic, in canon they were actually black. like how in-game knuckles has his tan crescent, despite them actually being white.
There's artwork of Knuckles in the Sonic Jam Strategy Guide that shows him with a tan crescent.
Sonic 3 has to be the best game ever. Nothing against Symphony of the Night. If shit wasn't rushed, imagine how awesome the game would of been!!! Sonic 3 on Sega, found a secret emerald stage, you beat it, you get a invisible emerald. Put in the sound test code (good luck) go to sound test on the stage select menu, play/change the tracks quickly then quickly select special stage 2 hold a hit start... If this works for you, thank me later and good luck beating that special stage!!!
I was messing with this kinda stuff, and BOGRL/ LMADE appeared in the bonus stage (gumball)
Blue knuckles?
“Oh, yeah, it's all comin' together.”
Costa Rica flag
TAKE THIS SNOINK!!!!!!
The airdash could also be an early code for the lightning shield double-jump
I laughed so hard after this XD
0:46 Never knew that Knuckles' "look up" sprites were misaligned in KiS2
It's true even of Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Yall forgot the drop dash I know I know Cristian whitehead got inspired by this ability
Great minds think alike
It’s nice that this once cut move from Sonic 3 now became a staple move in Classic Sonic’s moveset. Hell, it’s even starting to com into the 3D games of Frontiers is anything to go by.
These abilities would've been really cool

Sonic Mania : the NEW drop dash!! Sonic 3 prototype : 🤨🤨
Can you do the lock on with sonic 3 beta and sonic and knuckles
I’m digging the ring throw🎉
Sem contar q o drop dash também apareceu nesse protótipo
What a bunch of bitches not giving a proper answer and leaving the community speculating stuff. That tells me that they didn't think of this shit and indeed got it from the prototype as there's no way SEGA didn't have it as well.
I wonder if the SRB2 devs knew about this when designing the Ringslinger game mode?
Well i know for a fact someones gonna make a sonic 3 air mod with these abilities
:SourPls
I think the people who developed Sonic Mania had to sign a NDA and one day long from now the truth will come out.
Finally someone noticed! By the way I didnt notice the shield abilities actually.only Sonic's normal moves As you investigate further you realise that Mecha Sonic tries to be like Eggman at first but after losing to Sonic 2 times he mimmicks his moves
I should've included that too!
@@SilverSonic1992 aw man its too late ;(
early ver of the homing attack
i wouldn’t put too much stake in the iizuka theory, as considering they’ve been known to have access to official unused content archives while working on the 2011 CD port, it’s more than likely they found out about this move themselves through prototypes, planning documents, or something like that which sega had backed up. the confidence with which stealth incorrectly called it a bug and whitehead’s response are suspicion enough in my book lol, i think sega must have them under NDA
Could it be possible that the "Drop Dash" might've been something thought for a Shield Ability? I still didn't see the code entirely, but in action this seems as rough as Sonic's unused extra abilities (like the Ring Throw attack)
A ring collecting rings🤔
I 100% think they had access to early Sonic 3 stuff during Mania's development, especially considering Taxmam confirmed he had access to early CD stuff when the 2011 remaster was in development. Judging from the fact that it puts Sonic into a spindash when you hold down on the D-pad, im assuming it's actually just a one-frame spindash? This is acftuslly how Origins handles it (except for Sonic 3).
Yes, it's a one-frame spindash. There is reason to believe that Sonic 3 development materials are (or were) kept under lock and key for obvious reasons. Consider how little development material was released prior to Sonic Origins in comparison to the plethora for Sonic 1 and 2. Sonic Origins is of course special for being forced to acknowledge the legal situation. I don't think the Mania team was given access to Sonic 3 stuff for Mania, possibly not even for Origins. SEGA of Japan was entirely responsible for the parts of Origins outside of the RSDK.
DEEP CUT
The drop dash lore really goes deeper than we thought .
Didn't expect this to ever resurface, Whitehead was pretty open about this and had a post explaining that the "drop dash" from the prototype was just buggy spin dash code and in no shape or form inspired Mania.
probably just a coincidence if you ask me. sonic is a simple game played with just a d-pad and four buttons, so probably it was a coincidence. in sonic mania you activate the dropdash by jumping and holding jump (if I'm not mistaken) but in the S3 prototype you use up instead, so probably a coincidence. plus many famous social media faces use emojis. like I'm pretty sure one day your favourite CZcamsr replied to you but they used an emoji, but that's for a reason. you see bc of my experience in Reddit (that was a long time ago) i figured that if your comment/post had an image it would cause more people to read it because the image gets a bit of attention instead of plain text, but in cases where the platform is so shitty they copy a worse and very hated platform (*cough* *cough* youtube *cough* *cough*) or you don't have an image/don't feel an image is necessary, like in the case with the twitter post. you can use emojis Thier bright colours would attract a person's attention too. so yeah that's my in-depth explanation 👽👽👽 (alien emoji so ppl would read this)
I'm agreeing with Christian Whitehead.
You're the man to look for when it comes to this proto, wish you the best of luck
Wow, it means a lot!
How did you do this? Did you port the graphics from the prototype to the final version and edit several things?
Also if you slow the video down you can see that for a single frame Sonic has his spin dash sprite
This is awesome they have been thinking about this since 1993 but I guess they never knew how to make it look cool until mainia
There's also Super Mecha's ability to dash through the air being based on Super Sonic's dash in Doomsday Zone, but that ability is kind of generic at this point.
That Alien emoji. Hiding in plain sight. Maybe xD
I took the alien emoji to be a reference to the far-out, spooky nature of this coincidence. And to me, given the differences in implementation, as well as other comments by Whitehead et al. about the creation of the Drop Dash in Mania and the fact that we had no idea this move existed in Sonic 3 at any point back in 2016, makes me think this is a coincidence.
I know one thing is for sure the drop dash sound effect after it is released makes a screeching noise which is very annoying in Sonic mania
