Plasma coating glas with copper
zhlédnutí 156Před rokem
Welcome to AKA-Engineering This is the Dangerous and cheap version of a Plasma chamber capable of sputtering copper metal onto glas plates. I tryed different designs, power supplies and materials over the years and this is my result. Usually argon gas is needed and a much stronger vacuum pump. but with a lot of persistence i managed to do it on the cheap. If you want more information i highly r...

    I am interested in coating plastic or nylon for further nickel plating.

    Hello AKA engineering! I really appreciate your time to make this video. Have you tried to cut the ruby into a gemstone?

    • @akaengineering
      @akaengineering Před rokem

      yes i have managed to grind it with a diamond wheel. they are not clear, so a gemstone is not possible. But i want to make durable tools out of it. maybe a knife one day. thats why i try to stick the ruby to a metall. that way i can maybe coat the blade of a knife. i will keep experimenting at the pace my budget allows.

    Cool! Inspiring for what I’m wanting to do too. Have you looked into the flux process?

    • @akaengineering
      @akaengineering Před rokem

      thank you for your comment. Do you mean addition of a flux, to lower the melting temperature? i have not tried that. And i dont know what to use. maybe borax? next i want to use an UV laser to heat up the alumium oxyde. I've done it with an industrial Laser a few years ago, but i didnt film it back then.

    Hey. Firstly congrats on your rubies. I made a high voltage power supply that gives around 15kv output. But I can’t get any bigger rubies than around 1 mm radius. Your furnace looks like a high current arc welder more than a hv furnace. Idk what to do in order to get bigger rubies. Im open to suggestions. Thanks for sharing.

    • @akaengineering
      @akaengineering Před rokem

      the high voltage arc looks good, but the Microwave oven transformer gets to hot after about 2minutes. so i struggle to get bigger rubys myself. i tried an MIG welder and had more success. maybe try a mold made of graphite and heat it with a MIG welder. i want to make a video aout that myself, but it takes time.

    • @yusufsahin3278
      @yusufsahin3278 Před rokem

      @@akaengineering hey again. I made my rubies using an arc welder. A graphite mold was too expensive for my bugdet so i made a mold fron Ytong. They turned out good but most of them bubbled so they werent fully solid. Thanks for your suggestions.

    • @akaengineering
      @akaengineering Před rokem

      @@yusufsahin3278 I tried Ytong too. great insulator, but it melts and the ruby is not pure. the bubble problem should get better, if you heat it for longer. Video part 2 of the ruby making is almost done.
