I think it’s cute that you said “consider liking it if you like it” which sounds a bit confusing…but i think you meant “please consider clicking the like button if you like this video” Clever video!
Thanks for the tip, speaking isn't necessarily my strong suit 😅
So smart and creative I love it!!
Thank you!
This reminds me of a mom who cooks for her children in a super tight budget in best way she can. She refuses to give in to her circumstance. When you whip things out with limited resources and circumstances, it takes a lot more will and creativity. No doubt your talent will flourish as your means grow. Such a great inspiration. Hope your channel grows!
Omg thank you. Because of my financial situation, I have had to be really creative to make things work. Im happy for your kindness 😊
Thank You for Letting Us Know the Errors So No One Can Sell Me on the idea of Anything But Plywood... Appreciatively, LH from Kentucky 🤗...
Oh yeah I wanted to make sure that my mistakes wouldn't be passed on, I hope your flooring project works beautifully ❤️
You have such a soothing voice
Thank you ☺️
liked your idea.. thankyou for it. but, knowingly or unknowingly you also divided the painting in the wall. that's not beautiful thing to do actually.. either you keep it undivided or you can just get rid of it.
I actually disliked the painting, it was originally a projector screen and a tenant before me ruined it by painting over it. I removed the whole painting a few months later.
Great job. I love the final result. Where did you find the appli ks? Sorry not familiar with the term or spelling? Thanks in advance.
Appliques are like little moldings, I bought some out of wood online and then made silicone moulds of them amdade more with resin
The sound is popping and clipping. Had to mute. Otherwise i love the instruction and i'm definitely going to try this out.
Sorry about the sound, I will be more careful with future videos
Couldn't even watch. That whispery voice is like nails on a chalk board.
Ok!
What happened to the bumps?
What bumps?
Put a painting on it or get wall sticker art
How thick is the carpet? I want to try something similar, but my carpet is super thick. Wonder if this will still work
This carpet was quite plush, so it didn't age the best, but if you make a floating subfloor with plywood and tape the plywood together floating on the carpet it'll give you a smooth hard surface for the linoleum
What material of board is that?
For this project I used Styrofoam insulation, but in the future, i would use euca board if I did this again
You are a LIFE SAVER!!!! I'm autistic and I can't stand the carpeting these cheap landlords be using to cover up the damaged floors. And because of that I tend to just stay on my bed or a chair as of the carpet was hot lava. Just by sharing your experience, you've shot rocketed my mental health and physical health. Thank you thank you
I'm so glad I could help! Please consider using 1/4 inch plywood under the linoleum flooring to make it more stable I didn't do that in this video so the carpet underneath made the floor squishy so it broke after awhile but if you place the plywood on top of the carpet and duck tap it together making a sort of floating sub floor the linoleum on top will have more more stability and last longer :)
You MUST SPEAK LOUDER, please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Let the haters hate lol I love hearing the soothing whispers! Keep going !!
Do you have a video of how it looked when u switched to the plywood
Im sorry i couldn't watch all of this because the whispering was annoying,
thought i was the only one annoyed by it. helpful vid tho.
I LOVE your voice! It’s extremely calm and soothing. Just be your authentic, amazing, creative, talented, and beautiful self. I am trying to do this project for quite some time now as I fell in love with how amazing it is! I don’t usually build things but I’m really determined. Having hard time finding the correct supplies! I know you have listed them several times in the comments but still unsure of exactly what I need. I am looking for foam insulation like you used 4x8 but thicker as you recommended. 2 inches or maybe more….but I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find. They are pink or gray colored. Many say Polystyrene on it. I tried reading about it but not sure that’s the same thing. There was a lot of really flimsy white styrofoam insulation too. Like the stuff that falls apart when you pull the packing out of box from purchased item. And none of them have this protective film on it. I am running into a ton of smooshed up and dirty looking insulation sheets. Everyone I ask at Lowe’s/menards/hardware store all are clueless and look at me like I’m insane when I tell them what I’m looking for and trying to build. I saw your suggestion about doing it with plywood. If you would be willing to chat with me and maybe share some guidance I really would be so very thankful! I was just wondering what screws would be the best as they would have to be pretty long. Did you use flat paint or latex? Does it matter? What did you cut it with? What are you using to protect your floor in the video while cutting? Did your cat shred it to pieces? Did it hold up? Are you using wood filler to fill the holes? Did you use just a hack saw for cutting wood pieces or need an electric saw? Would you be willing to make a Chinese screen for me like yours? I will pay you for your

This is SUCH a great idea!!!! The finished product looks amazing! Great job!!! I hope to replicate this as best as I can 🙏
Very helpful. I’m upset about my situation right now, but this feels empowering. I’m going to do this and stop crying lol 🎉
Where you buy the Styrofoam?
Hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe’s or any builder supply store. It’s an insulation foam panel. The video shows the R-value of the panel.
@gigiscrafts1259 thank you so much
I see buckles in this and that looks very poorly done. Why not go find some cheap new carpet and install it yourself. If someone wants to rent that the way it looks they will probably eventually not pay rent. Some things you just can't cut corners on and if you do you get what you pay for. Good luck with your rental 🎉
I'm the renter, and i did this mainly to make it easier to clean, but I agree it wasn't perfect, so I went in later and created a sub floor with thin plywood and duck taped the peices together floating on the carpet and under the linoleum, it fixed the problem and it still looks fine 2 years later
Ahhh! Understood! I was thinking you had a scum bag landlord. But you wanted a different look for yourself and easy to remove! I wasn't trying to be rude😊 but I completely understand why you chose this route now and I'm glad your happy with your alterations. 🎊
@@TM-tt6ypyou literally just sat there and shit talked their job.
Good idea to separate the room! Makes a lot of difference. But it does seem like it can topple over at any given moment. Why didn't you cover up the wall painting? It looks so disruptive this way.
Not to be rude but you keep referring to the material as "pieces" I looked in the description I have no idea what you were using can you please tell me what the " pieces" are called
It would be super helpful if you could speak up. You're whispering
Yes, I've had many many mant comments saying this exact thing. I'll try to speak up in future videos.
Great idea. What kind of lights did you use behind the doors?
These ones are C by GE but a better choice would be Phillips hue strips
Friendly is misspelled in your tag line title
Thank you!!! Not anymore 😂😂😂
i love your videos! i just found ur channel! You have some great ideas. You should start a second asmr channel bc your voice is relaxing and amazing!
Thank you so much, this means a lot, I do have more videos to edit but I've been so busy with work. I hope to make more for you in the future!
@@ShelyHomeDesign glad to hear more videos are coming in the future
Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Why are you whispering?
Many people have voiced their dislike of my soft voice. I will try to speak up in future videos.
فكرة رائعة احسنت العمل
I'm so sorry, I tried to translate this on Google but the translation didn't seem right so I apologize I don't understand. I'm really sorry
@@ShelyHomeDesign Your idea is great, thank you Good luck
You can’t sound sexy with a lisp and srudder and your dead brained pause 😂
2:30 "Wallpaint Sadly does not stick to that". The best laugh I had in a while. Great Job on this and the Chinese Style Screen!
Lol I totally forgot I said that, I had to watch that part of the video again! I agree this time around watching it it does sound a bit snooty and funny 😂
@@ShelyHomeDesign I don’t think it was “Snooty”. I can just relate to the level of frustration in ya voice and found it hilarious. Hope all is well and keep up the Great Content. I made my partition wall after watching this. It’s nowhere near as nice as yours but thank you. You are officially my “Ms. Miyagi” “Pei Mae” “Mrs. Frizzle” and Captain oh Captain all rolled in one. 😘
You did a great job!!
Thank you!
What a great idea!! I will be doing this, rather than paint the walls in my rental house. I really don't want to have to repaint before I move again. Love this! I hope you make more videos...your voice is lovely!
Thank you so much! I do have other videos to work on and I'll eventually get to them 🥰
I don’t know how this came to your mind it’s better than the others videos I have been watching. Thank you for making this video ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching it! I probably would do this a bit different if I did it again, like I'd add some 1/2 inch plywood above the carpet and duck tape it together as a sub floor kind of thing before putting the linoleum on top if I did this again.
@@ShelyHomeDesign hi the perfect solution without those additional steps are grip-strip planks: IMPORTANT QUESTION! I was told that the moisture will get trapped and cause mold. Is that true? Did you experience anything like this? I put the roll out vinyl and I wish I had your email to show you how it turned into a disaster after 4 years. Please get back to me about the mold/ moisturize potential 🙏🙏
I love your Chinese style inspired screen, how much will it cost to have something made to create a hallway? 0:44
I'm sorry but I don't know how much it would cost, materials cost would be based on current prices and how big you want to make it, also what type of material you choose you use.
Where did you get or how did you make the details you glued on last?
Those were appliques that I purchased. And some of them I made from resin
Awesome job and idea!! Thanks Shelly!! ❤️💪🏾
What are the materials used
Furring strips: I used 1x3x8 on the bottom and 1x2x8 for everything else. The foam board I used was 1 inch thick but I recommend using 2 or 3 inch or even eucaboard instead. If you use thicker foam board you may not need as much wood support, but you'll need much longer screws
Nice job on the wall.
Thank you!
Beautiful construction! Curious if your landlord made a stink about altering the layout of the room 👀
Hey! Not at all, since this isn't screwed into the wall or anything it's basically just a rolm devider that can be removed at any time!
@@ShelyHomeDesign amazing!! I will definitely be excited to try this!
Please speak louder
Great work! We are in a small 2 bedroom, family of 4.. trying to find a way to split my kids room. this studio does not have bathroom or kitchen? Curious where this is.
This is actually a room in a house I rent with other people!
It’s a large bedroom in a house.
Oh cool!@ShelyHomeDesign
Did you drill anything to the walls ?
I actually used mounting tape and a wooden brace that I made to secure it to the wall since it's a rental
This is great but also I love your voice, you sound like phoebe judge
It’s like ASMR
Looks horrible
Cool story bro!
@@ShelyHomeDesign seriously it really looks like crap if that’s all the talent you have I wouldn’t show it off
