Why are all of these listed under comedy?
Kinda turned that hydrant on fast. Your local water guys must love you jack hammering lines.
Turning on a hydrant or nozzle fast is not the problem. Shutting off a nozzle or hydrant quickly will cause water hammer, and you can't turn off a hydrant fast enough to cause a water hammer unless you were to use a ball valve somewhere in the supply line. Using gate valves, especially at the intake source, will prevent water hammer.

Great stuff thx. It's cool seeing how other departments do things. Small things are diffrent from where I work Miami Dade Fire Rescue but it is the same at the same time. It's great going over things so it sticks. Thanks for your heart to help others out!
