Over 90% of overdoses in 2023 were from illicit illegal dangerous street drugs. Another 7% were due to poly use (mixing of medications/interactions) and the other 3% were legitimate overdoses with prescription medications. 3% which is a very low number in comparison to the illegal street drugs. The damage that has been done to chronic pain patients should be deemed criminal. Less than 1% of chronic pain patients become addicted. Are they dependent? Yes. They are dependent on their legal medication to work similar to a diabetic being dependent on their insulin to work.

This so called documentary forgets to mention that many, many people who turn to heroin started with prescription drugs and completely vilifies them. Some of the Drs in the "report" blame the crisis on junkies (many of them addicted to hard drugs because of opioids) while letting real psychopathic criminals like the Sackler family off the hook. As far as I know that family of complete lunatics with a view on humans equal to that of Mengele´s still enjoy a lavish lifestyle despite the "big" fine the had pay. However it is also true that some people really do need opioids for pain relief and they shouldn't be denied access to medicine just because big Pharma went bat shit crazy and happily watched pill mills being created and destroyed hundreds of thousands lives, killing many of them.
