Africamps Cederberg De Pakhuys Glamping Vlog
Our 14th Africamps stay was at one of the most recent camps, De Pakhuys in the Cederberg. This is how camping should be👌 Africamps has done it again with an awesome location and quality accommodation. The property is dog friendly, so you can bring your pooch along and all the tents are equipped with wifi, so you won't have to digitally detox, unless of course you want to.
There are some awesome hikes through the spectacular rock formations, massive boulders and beautiful waterfalls. We also we paid a visit to the small, and very remote village of Wupperthal, hidden in a secluded valley deep in the mountains.
The village is accessible only by a gravel road, and it's main claim to fame is as a Rooibos Tea growing centre and also for the manufacture of "veldskoen", a traditional and super comfortable South African shoe.
The property at De Pakhuys blew us away with the sheer beauty of the surroundings. And experiencing it in the comfort of an Africamps tent makes the experience all the more special.

Mapungubwe National Park: Meeting Place of South Africa, Botswana & Zimbabwe
zhlédnutí 3,5KPřed měsícem
Mapungubwe National Park is located at the far northern border of South Africa, at the meeting place of 3 countries: South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The terrain is a combination of open savannah with some spectacular rock formations, especially around the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe rivers. Mapungubwe is a World Heritage Site and while the wildlife and birdlife is abundant, it's a...
Letaba Rest Camp Review Kruger National Park Vlog
zhlédnutí 3KPřed 2 měsíci
We recently spent 3 nights at Letaba Rest Camp which is situated on the Letaba River, midway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park. It's also roughly in the middle of the park west to east, so is in an ideal spot to explore the massive reserve. Here's my review of the rest camp. The name means “river of sand”, and the sandy riverbed is an excellent location fo...
Africamps Magoebaskloof Glamping in Limpopo

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of the Africamps glamping concept. The proof is in the fact that I recently stayed at my 13th Africamps at Magoebaskloof in Limpopo province. The property is absolutely beautiful and the accommodation in a class of it's own. It was my first time in Magoebaskloof and I wouldn't have believed that a place so lush, green and fertile existed in South Africa, it mus...
Africamps Champagne Valley KZN Drakensberg
zhlédnutí 3,9KPřed 3 měsíci
We spent 2 nights at AfriCamps in Champagne Valley, in the foothills of the KZN Drakensberg. It's a close to nature experience and loads of adventure and exquisite natural beauty are in store. Sadly the weather didn't play along this time, with much rain and unseasonal cold weather, so during our visit outdoor activities were somewhat restricted. But, that didn't stop us from enjoying the exten...
Sedgefield Saturday Markets | Garden Route South Africa
zhlédnutí 5KPřed rokem
If you happen to be into Saturday markets, the proudly "slow town" of Sedgefield, which is located between George and Knysna in the South African Garden Route, has got a treat for you. Because there are not one, but three markets from which to choose. Each one with a unique atmosphere and an individual "vibe". The Wild Oats Farmers Market has a selection of fresh farm produce and food stalls. F...
Glamping in Sedgefield at Teniqua Treetops

We went off grid "glamping" in sustainable treehouses at Teniqua Treetops, 16 km from the N2 highway in the forest not far from the "slow" town of Sedgefield in the Garden Route. What a very unique place, with 8 glamping chalets combining timber, glass and wood, built into the forest canopy. The property is entirely off grid and sustainable, with solar panels providing ALL the electrical needs ...

The site where Nelson Mandela was arrested on 5 August 1962 outside Howick, in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. Mandela was dressed in disguise as a driver when the police found him, this arrest led to his 27 year incarceration. On that day, armed security police, acting on a tip off, flagged down a car in which Nelson Mandela was pretending to be the chauffeur. The spot where this occurred is on t...
Storms River Mouth Rest Camp and Suspension Bridge Hike

Storm's River Mouth Rest Camp in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park. What an awesome place, with log cabins and campsites right on the ocean, and a must do is a hike to the pedestrian suspension bridge over the mouth of the Storm's River itself. The rest camp and facilities are managed by SANParks. The Storm's River, which is in the Eastern Cape Province is considered to ...

My favourite adventures for the first part of the 2020's. It's a totally personal selection with no "winner" and it's not in any particular order of preference. There are full videos of most of the destinations, in some cases more than one, links are below. So without further fanfare, here is my Top 10. 1). I had the privilege of visiting the remote village of Riemvasmaak in the dry, inhospitable far Northern Cape of South Africa. Riemvasmaak is located near the Orange River, close to the Namibian border. It was originally settled in the early 1930s by people of Xhosa, Damara, Herero, Nama, and Coloured origin, but in the early 1970s the community was sent back to their ethnic homelands, some of t...
Coffee Bay & Hole in The Wall South Africa Wild Coast
zhlédnutí 16KPřed rokem
Coffee Bay, at the heart of South Africa's Wild Coast is a strange kind of place. There are no "facilities" as such, no shops other than spaza shops, some basic backpackers and pizza joints, but we managed to find a decent guest house which was awesome. The village is somewhat spoilt by the abundance of rubbish lining the streets, and beaches. Which is a pity, because it has so much potential. ...
Orange River and Vaal River Confluence by Drone

South Africa's two greatest rivers, the Vaal and the Orange converge just outside the small town of Douglas in the Northern Cape. Here's some drone footage from a visit I paid a visit there earlier this year. Both rivers were very full, notice the difference in colour and also how much slower the Vaal's flow is than the Orange. From here, South Africa's longest river still has another 900 km be...
An Abandoned Gold Mine, Knysna South Africa: Millwood Gold Rush Ghost Town

Most people have heard of the gold rush at Pilgrim’s Rest & Barberton in the 1870s and The Witwatersrand in the 1880s - fewer know about the Knysna Gold Rush in 1884. Millwood Gold Mine is near Rheenendal in the mountains around 30 kilometres from the Garden Route town of Knysna. Millwood has it's origins in 1876, when ostrich farmer James Hooper found a gold nugget in the Karatara riverbed. Ho...

Great video Mnr
Thank you.
Beautiful place. I envy you all.
You really have the voice for this job I love your videos it really gives me the will and the wish to be back in SA very soon!
Thanks so much Adeline, I'm glad you enjoy the videos.
Afrikaner only.. Whites only.. Same thing.... It's sad that people still live like this.. Saying it's to protect your culture sies what lies! When South African people of color go to this town they are treated like animals and are asked to leave! This town shows how some people still have a superiority complex and backward mindset still trying to oppress... FTS
Drove there today. Road was really badly eroded. Took 3.5 hours to reach the gate.
I think all the rain recently has had an effect.
It just works no criminals no crime
Beautiful place
The Africans should have run these people off the continent 😢they hav no right to do this BROTHERS AND SISTERS WE HAV THE NUMBERS WE DO NOT HAV TO TAKE THIS
Blacks must stop racism against all East Asians first, before shouting whites are bad. West Africans, especially from Ghana and Nigeria, always look down on South Koreans, as many locals cannot fluently speak even English, although their each mother tongue is useless in each West African country of theirs. They never try to learn Korean even after a few years of living in Seoul There's also a Nigerian club that no Korean men are allowed. Which ones are true racists in this case? Why must we Koreans speak English in our country? Are these blacks whites, just because they can speak one of European languages?

Other south Africans should learn from them seeing how rich their country is if managed properly.

Thank you for an excellent video. Professionally made and excellent commentary. Thank you also for the inspration and helpful advice. We will plan a visit to Union's End soon.
Thank you for the comment, I'm glad you found the video useful, enjoy your visit. We just returned from the Kgalagadi, although we didn't make it so far north this time, it was a treat as usual. It never fails do deliver.
Atleast there are no Nigeriabs there n Somalians
Amazing place, thanks for the video. Going to Mapungubwe in a few days time!
That's awesome, enjoy your time there.
great video as always
Thanks Dean.
Way back in 1978 my wife and our two boys of 4 & 5 years of age, explored that tunnel right to it's dead-end. Brave little fellows they were, and keen to explore a side-shaft, but as it was on a sharp upward incline and I deemed it too risky. Very few people seem to have any interest about the mines back then. Also, not a soul around. That large black pipe seen in your coverage, was not existent back then, Probably for additional ventilation for the tourist industry in latter years, It was very musty and the air became very 'stale' towards the end of the shaft. We were also pleased to return to the fresh air outside. Thanks for the video. Brought back happy memories of our visits to Knysna. We also discovered the ruins (rubble) of an old fort on the hill above the town, just somewhere behind and above the hospital. It was called somebody's Folly( not sure of the name), as it was built as a defence for Knysna about the time of the boer war, and was considered ' a waste of public money' at the time.
Thanks for the interesting insights Rob, and I'm glad the video brought back some memories.
Thank you for the review. Awesome.
I'm glad you enjoyed the nvideo, and thanks for taking the time to comment.
Nice! We are going in June!
Awesome, enjoy your trip, I'm not jealous at all 😉
@@Kangela Thank you
My favourite camp
I've got to say it's right up there for us as well.
4x4 ? or would 2x4 with diff lock also be able to reach the beach ? Hilux 2.8GD-6
I think it depends very much on the road conditions and the tide. We had to drive through some water, also quite a bit of sand. So a brave soul in a 4x2 could probably make it😅 but I'd say a 4x4 is better.
Thanks @@Kangela how far is the parking from the beach I want to go fishing and don't want to carry all the stuff Utshwayelo Kosi Mouth Lodge, I cant see from google maps
@@prikkles It's a while since we were there, but if memory serves me correctly, the parking is pretty much on the beach. Having said that, it's a pretty wide beach, so there will be some walking to get to the sea.
@@Kangela thanks for taking the time to reply
@@prikkles Always a pleasure👍
You lost me when you dissed our houses, come paint them if you so concerned tsk
Or the home owners could do it, same as they do everywhere else 🤔
Been to most of those places
They are awesome.
I agree with you. I was there over the weekend from the 4th May 2024 to the 6th May 2024. Those informal tour guides are irritating. They are so persistent and makes your visit unpleasant.
It's a pity, it spoils an otherwise wonderful experience.
I heard this past week that Johnnie had passed away. He will be missed at Matjiesfontein.
RIP Johnny.
Closes at 12 as most of the fresh produce is sold and farmers want o to home
The food stalls shouldn't be affected, the other markets received the benefit though I suppose.
One of those if you need to ask the price, you can not afford it" places? (Late check out’s will be charged at R150.00 per hour after 10:00 am.)
Thank you. Very interesting. Looks like a very nice camp to stay at. Peaceful and quiet in the bush
Thanks for taking the time to comment Tessa, and you are correct, it's absolutely an ideal spot for the peace and quiet of the bush.
That my home town 💙
A very pleasant town too, we really liked it;
thank you so much for that brilliant video. Just worked on my own video visiting it 28 years ago with a little fiat car and tent. Things changed obviously (visitor center etc..) but the magic is still there and you caught it. Best, Chris
Thanks so much for the kind words Chris.
great concept n way to elude the forced integration......i dnt agree with the means of how they got to Africa and racist apartheid, but that was their ancestors and they are there by default.......
So beautiful place 🤩💕
One of my favourite places in the world.
@@Kangela yes.....very peaceful and beautiful

Hello! May I ask in which big five reserve you did the evening game drive?
Hello Christina, the owners asked me not to mention the name of their reserve because we showed footage of rhinos. So respecting their request I wouldn't like to name it. Sorry for that, I hope you understand.
Oh, did not think about that! It is of course understandable, thank you.
