Thanks for reading to me/us. Weather is drunk here too!! Freeze warning in mid June, south of Centerville Washington state, very south central (another mile, we’d be at the Columbia River) which divides Oregon and Washington! We get that wild weather because of the river and mountains: snow, hail, rain, sun, sleet, freezing rain with super high winds, all in the morning! There is never a dull moment! Everyone is panicking about covering up their precious baby plants!!

Sympathies. I really feel for you. And all the other commenters with similar issues. I went to the dentist yesterday. I got a temporary filling, awaiting the second root canal treatment of my life. I lost an old filling 5 days ago. I got the fixing appointment on the same day I called in, because there was pain involved. Otherwise I would've had to wait for over two months for a non-urgent appointment. The public healthcare is badly queued so I'll get a voucher to an outside service, because the lifetime of the temporary filling is limited. The temp and the root canal are going to cost me about 100 EUR together. The voucher means a private practise will do the treatment but I'll only pay what I would for public service. Because in Finland we have this thing called SOCIAL SECURITY. And, despite all its faults and problems, it's designed to take care of us. I (and many others here) feel that the U.S. is a very undeveloped country that doesn't really care about its citizens at all. Except for the exploitation possibilities they present for those in power. (Biased view, I know. But I guess all of you who are reading this already know why things look that way to us.) Dear Christine, is it possible for you to accept donations to help with this? Set up a Patreon or Ko-Fi or a GoFundMe or something? I don't have much but I'd like to pitch in. Or is it possible to accept small private donations as direct bank transfers from abroad as charity, without getting tax troubles where you're at? If so, what's the amount limit? By the way: It wasn't a you-thing. That local guy is an asshole. He has a horrible bedside manner, and he's compounding the problem, if not actually causing it for some people! Fostering a fear of dentists is completely unacceptable behaviour from a so-called professional. He should be called out on it. But that's not YOUR responsibility. Just stay away from him. He's not good for you. All that said, are you aware that until less than 100 years ago it was a regular practise (at least in many places in Europe) to, if you could afford it, get all your teeth pulled out and get complete dentures when you were fairly young? Whether you had tooth problems at that point or not? Because everybody would get them eventually. Lucky people got this as a wedding present. There's a few interesting peeks at earlier dental care methods in the BBC series The Victorian Pharmacy, which can be found on the 'Tube. If you feel comfortable enough with the subject to take a look, that is. It's also perfectly okay not to. This is legitimate trauma ground here.

I love this trilogy. The next trilogy after this one is even better!! I also love Lackey's Elemental Masters series.

I have to disagree with you about the age difference. My wife is 24 years younger than I am. I bet didn’t meet her till she was 35. But we get along quite well. And the older man with the younger woman is hat, traditional model. Back Last century and before farmers started a family unfortunately what often lose a wife to childbirth. And generally because he was secure and and had assets usually secured a young wife to take care of the children.

I read all of these from the library originally, finding one at the thrift store recently is what caused me to start watching you reading them.

@Christines.1546 This is the first book I ever read. So many fond memories while i binged your readings over the past weekend while i was sick. I have original copies of the first 6 books. Either its different from your copy or you took some liberties to shorten some sentences. This is fine. I thoroughly enjoyed your reading. I struggled with some pronunciations that had my hackles raised at first but most are just different interpretations. You do have a habit of putting N's in where they don't belong or removing the N where it does. INgen instead of IGen and MANdra instead of MARdra....RobiN-ton. :) I got used to it and it did not mar my experience. I got through all three of these books then the Menolly series as well. On Renegades now. One thing i thought amusing was when you admit you sometimes substitute Melody for Menolly but in changing you put the accent on a different syllable. This is odd? i pronounce MENolly similar to MELody.But this one is interpretation. English is weird that way.... As i said i got used to it and look forward to the rest of the Pern books. I subbed and recommend you to friends. Thank you very much for your efforts Christine. Much appreciated.

For anyone wondering, the dragon fly is at 38:04. Christine, you posited a question and your suppositions l, but I had to find out for sure. The three National Lakeshores are Pictured Rocks (Michigan), Apostle Islands (Wisconsin), and Sleeping Bear Dunes (Michigan). (Listed oldest to newest.) Edit to add, I’ve added Painted Rocks to my bucket list.

how lovely! haven't been to the north shore (my side of lake superior) since 2015. i have a few iron ore rocks in my garden as a reminder of how wonderful it is to be on that giant lake. could you ask your son to say hi to big steve for us next time he has an interaction with a dragonfly please?
