Canon 5d Mark II raw video / Magic Lantern test
I shot these clips with the Canon 5D mark II and Magic Lantern firmware to test the new 14bit raw video function. Color grading is done in Lightroom. I recorded these clips on a Transcend 400x CF card at resolution 1600x680 (1:2.35).
Workflow:
DNG to TIF in Lightroom 4, in the first two shots I tested to do some color grading.

Hi buddy. I have 2 questions I want to ask you. 1- When you set the pixel setting of the camera to 1600 × 800 while shooting raw, does the quality decrease too much? there should be a difference between 1920 × 1080 pixels and 1600 × 800 after all. 2- When shooting a healthy Raw, should the video symbol mark on the camera screen be green?
Do not focus too much on resolution. Its RAW data so when its up-scaled, all that information is used to fill in the gaps that you will not see with highly compressed 8-BIT video. . 8-BIT 4K is still guessing pixels so it's "native 4K" but not in the way most think. In my opinion, up-scaled 10-BIT or higher looks MUCH more pleasing and natural than the fake overly sharp look you get with 8-BIT 4K because its technically copying pixels to compensate for where a higher bit-depth wouldn't need to.

Why did you save it at 1600x680 resolution instead of at 1920x1280? Doesn't your pixel setting reduce the quality?
It's a physical limitation in the Mark II when shooting raw. The camera and CF card could not handle higher bandwidth than that.
@@albertdahlin Got it. Well, does the quality received when the pixel is dropped make you happy? Is there too much differenc?
@@thegodfather4713 , it doesnt work in the same way a typical camera works when shooting in lower resolution. This is based on the assumption your are not zooming/cropping the footage. I dont focus so much on "resolution" but more on getting the image in focus and sharp so that lower resolution shoots are barely noticeable. Not to mention, most people are watching on displays that do not have true HDR and/or are not 4K.

after you color grade your files how you do movie exporting, after effect or da vinci resolve. after effect take so mutch time but da vinci resolve i cannot use grade files, it takes grade off those files.
could you add your settings from the camera? shutter speed/ISO etc.

I've tried this with 400x card and 1000x card and still it keeps fucking up and dropping frames after just a couple of seconds :(
