I'm just an American bloke from St Louis. Got the Stone Roses CD from the library in 2003 knowing nothing about it. The cover looked cool and I think a coworker may have suggested it (this was over 20 years ago...). Been a favorite ever since despite not really caring for most of the 90s britpop stuff apart from Chumbawamba. Still listen to the whole album a few times a year. It's great for road trips because there's not a weak track on it apart from that backwards loop filler track, haha. Recently had it cranked up on a road trip from Minneapolis to New Ulm, Minnesota with my wife and a friend who had never heard it before. Nice to finally see footage of this amazing band!
all that set has been marvelous ,but the transition from Dr.who & chime is absolutely AWESOME
it’s weird to see sting before he became sting
Stone Roses set the bar a bit higher for the brit pop and shoegaze bands of the time. Their music was more intricate and retro without sounding like a complete ripoff, hence, the Simon and Garfunkel sound of Ian's voice. STILL LISTENING in 2024!
Saw the Stone Roses in the early 90s..Is in my top 3 best concerts EVER.
Stewart was always the Man. Sting was the narcissist guy who sold his soul for attention.
If only it was as easy to find and watch this in the day. This would have been my ultimate music video as a kid lol. For better or worse (ie. sting), they are a fucking brilliant 3-piece! My 8-year old self had good tastes hehe
Greatest live performance of all time, by the Greatest band of all time!!!
keren kieu ajigggg
Atemporal
Brilliant!!! Roxanne! Pray up.
Thanks for posting!! One of the great regrets of my 20's was that I never got to see these guys live and now that my 15 year old son is getting hooked on them, I decided to see if CZcams had any of their concerts from back when i first started listening to them. Well done mate!
Outstanding, Thank you! Smokin'!
Front man cannot sing for toffee
Watch Andy play those harmonics, making it look easy. And then realize what a sad copy of that the Edge's playing is.
Hey Craig, why dont you play more advertisements you j*ck*ss.
I remember watching this for the first time on some dodgy pirate VHS in the mid-90s, terrible quality, but I was transfixed from the start. I was only barely aware of who the Roses were at the time, but was a fan from that point on -- Brown's dancing (if you can call it that) taught an entire generation of blokes to dance. Not saying that's a good thing, but it is what it is.
Not bad for a first album..... Sheesh!!!! One of the wisest decisions in my life was to indoctrinate my kids into Outlandos D'Amour & Reggatta De Blanc. I got something right for once.
such a great band
Sounds like another particular band from Manchester...hmmm...
As much I love this band I could watch reni on his drums forever, he's the biz
1:54:00 Oh I remember watching this one live at that gig.....
I was at every Orbital gig at Pilton from the early 90's to mid 2002, they my fave music makers of all time and at nearly 57 I am still a few years younger then them lol. Love the music and the life Got my quad system on at 11 out of 10 listening to this on my boat on the canal I am currently on in North Yorkshire. xxxx
Each played their individual role brilliantly and gelled perfectly well as a band.
My dad was at this
You cant really make the "waballing D tune" part live. At list. .I can not loosing U that is for sure!! ONE2
Nothing is better then U three
Seen them various occasions. Including Glastonbury 95. As if i can remember though. Late 80s up to mid 90s were excellent for pharmaceuticals. They were good, music was good, people were good, and we didnt have to look out for some c#$t filming while we were giving it some raving.
Glasto 95 was an amazing set, my son was 8 weeks old and it was his second gig and his first Orbital one, he grew up on em, went to raves and tribal gatherings with me and my circus fireshow and stage fire eating etc..... oh they were the daze
Comunque gli Stone Roses sono unici, riescono a suonare un concerto pop facendolo apparire come una serata in discoteca negli anni '90 ❤
Their live thing was already so tight around this time. Sting's vocal was immense, Chords soaring from Andy's battered Telecaster and Stewart doing what Stewart does. 3 incredible musicians. 1 incredible songwriter. What a band. So original. Unique and unlike any other group. No wonder they became the biggest band in the world. I loved though how they hijacked the 3 chord punk thing when it was so popular to get noticed. But with their huge talent, nothing would have stopped them.
I feel like the stone roses started where the smiths left off.
Andy is so underrated, proper guitar player.
You stole my thunder I was ready to make a comment about that.
27:33 to 28:01 Andy Summers goes Jimmy Page on the crowd. Hot stuff - what a band back in the day. Sting may have a huge ego but that guy is the real deal. Brought me to tears at a show one time just vocals and acoustic guitar doing "Message in a Bottle". Was NOT expecting that. Good - nay, GREAT stuff. So amazing when caught by surprise like that - it's a pity more bands can't / won't / or plain just aren't able to pull it off on that level.
What a fucking band
amazing footage,
Great band - terrible singer. He's in tune about 20% of the time. A good frontman but couldn't sing.
That golden period promised so much ,18 months later it was all over !
what happened to them>?
They should release this
Has been released on VHS and DVD before.
The Moan Roses are talentless musical numptys with a tone deaf singer. Absolute garbage.
Zzzzzzzzz. Boring trolling from a sad act nobody. Run along, honey.
@@TastyCement Aww didums. Maybe change your tampon brainiac.
@@TastyCement The Drone Roses. Absolute dog shit!
River splashes against the rocks And I scale a slope I hope the tracks won't Lead me down to dark black pits or Places where we fall to bits If she were there I'd hold her down I'll push her under while she drowns and Couldn't breathe and call for air She doesn't care for my despair Or is it me? Or the one that's wrong You see it in the sea River cool's where I belong In my Mersey paradise As I stare an oil wheel comes Sailing by and I feel like Growing fins and falling in With the bricks, the bikes, the rusty tin I'll Swim along without a care I'm eating sand when I need air you can Bet your life I'll meet a Pike who'll Wolf me down for tea tonight I want to be Where the drownings are You see it in the sea River cools where I belong In my Mersey paradise I want to be Where the drownings are You see it in the sea River cools where I belong Oh yeah I want to be Where the drownings are You see it in the sea River cools where I belong In my Mersey paradise
Love it your sugar spun sister ♥
Satan and Belfast are cracking tracks, I remember the failure with the DR Who track. Many thanks for sharing brought back some good memories
I have tix to see them in Chicago in 2024. I cannot believe it.
Another one hit pony band ! Or perhaps a two hit wonder , Sally Cinamin is OK
What a time to be a teenager
never seen a live video of a band have so much footage of the drummer, and rightly bloody so, Reni was the heart of The Roses
If anything there isn't enough footage of Reni, the camera lingers on Brown way too much.
Defo I love watching reni, he's such a charismatic bloke too
Elephant stone ❤
Class ian
fucking hell. Wow This must have blown heads kleeen off
Where’s Fool’s Gold?
It didn't exist at that point in 1989, that's where.
I was invented shortly after bro
