Three Monkeys is arguably his worst film, it's a soap opera, not in the league with this or his best work. As for The Wild Pear Tree, 3 1/2 stars is frankly a ridiculous rating. And it seems you completely missed the point of it. It is not actually about Sinan struggling to get his book published, nor should it be reduced to that. What you think is padding is actually uses to show the many aspects of Sinan's character and his relationship with his home town. Ge talks about his meta novel, well, this us a meta film. It is about how you create great art out of the seemingly small and mundane. The film is doing that and sgowing how you do that, but also showing the viewer what this world looks like through the eyes of soneone who despises it. It's operating on many levels.

The audio call in this is so familiar, does angone know if it's the real audio clip of something? I feel like I've heard it before

Mr. Stratton, it's a satyrical movie - though some of the vignettes are directly based on reality (as narrated by pro-separatist sources) - but satyrical nonetheless.

As a keen movie-goer and Secretary of a 200-member film society, I look forward to David's brief reviews for the Nova. However, over recent years, it's become a running joke in my circle that David has a standard rating of 4 stars. Indeed, of the last 20 or so reviews that David's given, they've all been 4 stars. Whilst it may be the case that the Nova screens a very consistent product, it's unlikely that David will think they all deserve a 4 star (no better, no worse) rating, which leads me to question what's going on e.g. are lower rating films dropped from review? Would love to see a response from Nova or David on this.

It s unbelievable that in th twenty's century how we can make this! It's horrible, shame on those people who knew and don't have the courage to denunciate the atrocity. A solid thriller with quality performances and stunning cinematography. Made me want to read the book. On top of all that I think BeBe Bettencourt gets the award for 'Breakthrough Star'.
