Southern people say y'all us old school Jersey people say "youse". My grandparents would always go to Jimmy Buffs, its no good anymore.
How can something that originated in america be called italian?
Because Italian Americans started it
Che figata! But how did you eat that sangwich without getting it on your shirt...I could never do it! Great Post! Ciao, Lou
Looks like I need to go to Jersey now

When I was a kid back in the early 1970's in Lodi, NJ, there was old Italian men with motorized cart. He would sell the best Italian ice. Everything was homemade and fresh.
Who else is here from the Family Guy reference
So great! What a diamond Brenda Vaccaro is! Wonderful history. Family, world view, just/unjust...fun stories what a hoot!.

Cookies for my wedding 1978 came from Bruno’s
My grandpa from Sicily came to 10314 1910, I never changed my zip code till I retired to Florida…
She mentioned what she calls "scafatun" when you are talking about the talks of handmade pasta. The only other time that I have heard this word was my grandmother said it, but that's what she called rigatoni. She said when she was growing up, they called them scafatun, not rigatoni. I've never been able to find much information on this. Does anyone have more information on this? If it makes a difference, my family is Barese, but my grandmother grew up in Jersey City.
Push the roids back up w a nice warm cabbage. That's old skool remedy. 😂😂😂
Malvasia is mallow. Its called malva in Italian, malvasia must be a regional name. I am also from Basilicata but we call it mëllagë instead of malvasia.
Zia Rosa is wonderful, I so enjoyed these two episodes!!!
Last year, Summer 2023, flight from Lisbon, Portugal to Naples, Italy all clapped as plane landed
Oh my goodness!! This second hour had me in stitches. So many of the remedies talked about in both episodes I remember my grandmother talking about and using . Thank you so much. Please bring Zia Rosa back again.
The flower with the Camille for my family is Laurel leaf flower or bay leaf flower Laurel is bay leaf. Also use saffron flowers. I use saffron threads to make tea and to inhale for decongestion. Herb in alcohol for my family is eucalyptus
The Giardiello side of my family are from Benevento too!!! The Ferraro side of my family are from Cleto in Calabria. I Love hearing about all the the cures and old ways of doing things!!! Keep up the Great Work!!! - Nick Giardiello
I think the herb you couldn't think of the English name for is Rue.
When I was little, I suffered on my hands and feet with eczema severely as well. Moreso on my feet. Not the dry patchy kind, but the blister kind that would itch so bad that you scratch and it bleeds. I suffered badly with it. My doctor put me under a blue light to help dry it out.
Excellent episode 🙌
Lately I have been particularly exhausted by Anglo dominant culture and have felt very isolated. We Italian Americans speak differently, move differently, have different priorities. I often feel that in order to function socially I have to be somebody different than I really am. Don't be too intense, too loud, always telling stories, food focused. I think of growing up in Union City with my grandmother Costantina (or as we pronounced it Goo-stan-deen in neapolitan) where it might have been Ameriga outside the apartment but in the house it was Avellino transported to this soil. Sweet, so sweet. We can't let this stuff go and you are preserving it. Mille grazie.
Rural southern Italy in the 1960's was like the US in the 1900's.
She's excellent southern Italian American woman brava.salute 🇮🇹🙌🏽🇺🇸 . Love the old stories. I always wondered why there's so many Italian Chiropractors? I guess it's because they didn't do surgeries lol
So funny not the cyst part. lol Hope she’s ok.
I LOVE BRENDA....always have!!! GORGEOUS LADY!!! you look great!!!
❤❤❤!
LOVE IT! You are right Pat, I agree! LoL!
I wouldn't want to be anything else. Viva L'Italia per sempre!
Just finished and am SO HAPPY there are two parts!! But Pat let the lady talk 😂 love you still
The traditional Italian way is you name your first son after your father and your second son after you
Zia Rosa is by far, the best person to be giving advice. She's such a sweetheart! Looking forward to future podcasts ❤
I am first generation from Liguria. I got olive oil and garlic in my ear for an earache. Plus a cotton ball.
Pat, has your dermatologist talked to you about Dupixent? Worked for me.

This makes sense as vinegar is used to clean all vegetables before consuming for kidney , heart and all transplant patients.
I am first generation Italian-American and can thoroughly relate to all the stories and events you all discussed in this wonderful video. Thank you so much for your channel. Keep up the good work!
Glad I found this channel. Great job, guys! Keep up the great work
I love every episode, but this one is really up my alley!! Love it!!
Love this so much! Zia Rosa knows so much 💙 to know her is to love her. Thank you for sharing this!!
When I lived in Dallas people used to ask me if I was Mexican and I would say no I'm Italian and they would look at me like I was crazy.
Zia Rosa is amazing. Love her stories.
WHENEVER we had a family member in the hospital we ALWAYS would leave a fruit basket at the nurses station and made sure they knew who it was from and to take good care of our family.
My Grandfather was a Nick, my Dad was a Nick, AND I’M a Nick🤣. So my Grandfather was “Nick”, my Dad was “J-R”, and I was “Little Nicky”. I was getting AARP mail since I was 16🤣. It’s true though that EVERYBODY has a Nickname 🤣. I’m (sadly 😢) am the only one left but when I go back home everyone Still calls me Nicky. Keep up the Great work!!! - Nick Giardiello
😆
False! Italians did not bring Jazz and Rock n Roll music to America. Ask Ken Burns.
Cari Italian American Podcast and guests, this conversation via ZOOM offered so much appreciation and insight into how we manage our emotions amidst the challenges of the 2020 epidemic. Your conversation touched so many aspects of living through the discomfort to being there for parents and grandparents to the hope of face-to-face interaction to the hope of realizing that our time with family and friends cannot be taken for granted. In a lighthearted manner with a good sense of humor and song, you remind me of connection of enduring friendship, the importance of comfort food, and looking forward to your next in-person meeting!
