I've landed 2 in the last year with field mice down in the throats. The first smallmouth was less than 14", and it was a BIG mouse! He had a full stomach.

Well now that that smallie's blood was on the hook and it entered my blood stream, I am craving fish sticks. Does that mean I have super powers now? I'm not sure! LOL! It's crazy how fast they can hook you, and that smallie was still hooked when he thrashed me. Thank the Lord he got unhook. We traded places! LOL! Luckily those hooks are so dang sharp I really didn't feel it, but I am right there with you. I'm like...please don't move!! I'm just glad it went straight through.

That was a crazy day! I assume a female cottonmouth must have left her scent in the water and the boys come out looking for her. That's the most I have ever seen in one given day. I hope all is well Mr. Mark!

That was a crazy day Mr. James. I have never seen that many venomous snakes in one day. They are bad down in your area, correct?

What's up Mr. Scott? How are you doing buddy? I hope all is well. We have timber rattlers here as well, but I have never ran up on one either. I'm very surprised I've never seen one. My parents have had a couple in their yard, and my cousin lost 2 dogs due to rattlesnake bites a couple years back. Based on the distance between the puncture wounds, it was a BIG rattler...and unfortunately the dogs were smaller in size.

Some of my streams are along the AT in Connecticut and one stream isn’t very far from one of the few Timber Rattlesnake dens our state has. There are videos on CZcams posted by AT hikers of their encounters with these snakes. The AT passes extremely close to that den so it is a common occurrence. Stay safe Trey🙏🙏.

B Mac asked me if I put that fish on a stringer and came back for him a second time. I told him you have to fish smart! LOL! I have some gaiters, but they get so hot. I may not think that way, if one ever bites me. I focus on every step I take...or, I try to at least. I saw 11 in under 5 hours.
