A zombie apocalypse would most likely not be reanimated corpses, more so just people infected with a fungus and driven mad. They’re still alive, just kept alive by the fungus which is acting as a parasite needing a host. For a zombie apocalypse to be plausible and actually dangerous, it’d have to be an ever mutating fungus.
