Stanthorne To Bridge 20 on the Shropshire Union Canal (Middlewich Branch)
A very brief video of a paddleboard outing from Stanthorne to Bridge 20 on the Shropshire Union Canal (Middlewich Branch).
Coalpit Lane (actually in an area called Stanthorne), just outside Middlewich, has a layby near the canal, it's then a case of going the the steps by the bridge and dealing with the traffic as it goes over over the hump back bridge or the muddier but safer way through some woodland. Bank launching is okay at this point. We travelled 2 miles to bridge 20, nearly 2 miles short of Church Minshull. Boat traffic was light today, just 2 narrow boats to deal with.

A mixture of stills and video from a trip along the River Dee at Chester, starting from Sandy Lane and travelling down to The Groves. On our return we continued about 1/2 mile past our launch point, at which time we had to return due to limitiation on the car park time allowed.

Tutor40 2 Test Flights

First two flights of my recently acquired Tutor 40 MK1. Last year I made an unplanned vertical landing of my 16 years old Tutor 40. I had learned to fly with that model and since those early says I have always kept it in flying condition as a model I can always go back to or make other uses of: a bomber, snow aeroplane on skis, camera plane or just fun. So it's demise just had to be made good. ...

10/03/2017, an overcast day with some rain about and 12mph wind. I hadn't flown a helicopter for about 7 months but it was all I had ready on this day so it this or nothing. Not my favourite type of aircraft really, I prefer scale fixed wing but all the same it's a nice skill to master, perhaps I will one day. We normally hire a narrowboat for just a week, this time we had two weeks which meant we could do a circuit as opposed to a there & back trip. This brief (hah!) video hardly gives credit to how much we enjoyed the ho...

F22 Chuck Glider Converted to Radio Control

This F22 chuck glider has quite a wide and deep fuselage, enough to cram in a receiver, LiPo battery and a UBEC to handle the power supply from the LiPo to the receiver. The first purpose is to hand launch from a hill, hopefully picking up some lift and soaring. The second purpose is to release it from a host model and for an RC gliding decent. I have some reservations about the the bomb releas...

      I have had many flights since then and the set up I have has served well, so no need to change the CG, which I don't think is the right solution anyway. Sorry for the late reply.

    5:27 - No. The ovens did not have their opening at ground level. We know this for a fact. The opening on a typichal roman oven was at least one meter up. Look how traditional neapolitan pizzaovens are constructed and you'll have a clue.

    I believe Tin was the main attraction. Julis Caesar two crossings were mainly just to build up Caesar’s image both trips were really failures. The Romans were not really very good in the water sailing the Mediterranean Sea is much easier than the channel. Claudius was a new Emperor also searching for glory. Rome alway has to put more into trying to control Britain it’s the main reason they left as the Empire struggled they simply had to cut their losses in manpower and gold. Had their been silver mines rather than tin mines, things might have been different. Rome never won the north. Britain in my view was a bridge to far for Rome.

    Just a little update... As many others have experienced the thrust line for this model is such that when the motor is slowed down or stopped the nose of the model lifts and it will glide a long way with very little speed. Although the problem created when power is on would appear to be what needs fixing that long glide in still air turns quite unpleasant if there is any wind. So, whilst accepting that others have found solutions by altering the thrust line; I have gone a different route and mixed throttle to elevator. This took some trial and error to progressively adjust until the right amount of up elevator was applied at full throttle and the right amount of down elevator at idle. Once done though the Vampire flies very nicely and makes a proper jet like landing with the fan just turning. Regarding the retracts, the replacements have continued to operate correctly to this day and overall the model has performed well.

    • @Freyia935
      @Freyia935 Před 8 lety

      ***** Julius Caesar did not conquer Britain, he tried to conquer the east/south shore but retreaded because of overwhelming numbers, the person who did conquer Britain was emperor Claudius at 48 AD. He brought elephants to Britain by boat and went into a Britain fort with the elephants he then made the barbarians surrender to him. and Britain idk its values but the only reason Julius Caesar attacked gaul because of its treasures of gold, otherwise the country is worthless other then its trees and its animals. But the most important country was Egypt its grain was very important to keep Rome alive and the East Africa was also important for its big trade and valuable items.

    @IPJnet It would be interesting to see this airfoil profile performance at the slope, as i learned the lesson of how even seemeling similar aifoils have quite diferent performances (i have a Clark-Y and a E374 amogn others for example.. the Clark-Y floats nicely but is slow as a snail and the E374 is like a race car picking speed, and then S6060 is even faster.. and have other foamies wich i dont know what profile they use but even looking similar to E374 they dont are near as eficient

  • @IPJnet
    @IPJnet Před 12 lety

    @sparrowlt & @Elamglen. Spot on. The air that passes through the unused duct creates a vortice behind the aeroplane. The vortice causes drag and so slow the aeroplane down. I've now stripped out all the unwanted bits and will soon get started on kitting out the new stuff. I can feel another video coming on :¬) Thanks for your polite and worthwhile comments.

  • @sparrowlt
    @sparrowlt Před 12 lety

    @Elamglen Because if you use it as a slope soarer (glider) and dont block that , it becames basically a big airbrake , slowing down the plane and sow wasting energy gathered (wich is what makes a plane move at the slope)

  • @IPJnet
    @IPJnet Před 12 lety

    @Elamglen Thanks for asking and to be honest I wouldn't have thought of it but I have been advised by others that have converted EDF foamies that doing so will stop parasitic drag.
