Perceptions of Pollution: Early Industrialisation in Birmingham and the Black Country
In the 18th and early 19th century industrialisation was synonymous with progress - its damaging effects weren’t widely understood until much later in the 19th and 20th centuries. But West Midlands poet Anna Seward was an early critic of the impact of industry on our landscape and our air. Over 100 years ago she was challenging accepted narratives by using the term pollution in the way we understand it today. In this new @historywmfilm, Dr Malcolm Dick, Director of the Centre for West Midlands History, explores the different ways that writers, artists and observers portrayed the industrial revolution and considers their attitudes to economic change.

The French and British still had unfinished business with Germany. On towards a war Germany was guaranteed to loose *again* no matter how long or bloody. The allies pretended to be unsure and washed out while having unlimited cannon fodder and resources to fight two worldwars at once if necessary. The naive revenge crazed Nazis goosestepped into the most crafty trap laid in history , while they paved the road towards Israel. The allies mercilessly bombarded the slightest target related to the Nazi occupier causing thousands of civilian deaths ,except the concentration death camps for reasons only the Zionists know. Some came out of this slaughter not entirely unsatisfied and wouldn't change this horrible history not even if they could.

When the engines moved from MSI to Thinktank there was a significant risk that they wouldn’t be able to run on live steam due to cost and would be operated on jockey motors, it required considerable effort to enable sufficient funds were available. Most of the installation work for the engines was undertaken by Heritage engineering of Glasgow…… some of the engines had been in pieces in long term storage which presented significant challenges when being assembled and commissioned.

Chamberlain's performance in foreign affairs (with friends, potential friends, and foes alike) does rightly overshadow the good work he did domestically. Because WW2 did happen, and WW2 was really really bad. Chamberlain was potentially good as a peace time PM. He was not suitable as a strong wartime PM, or strong enough in foreign affairs to prevent the war to begin with. The Exchequer was his place to shine, not PM during dangerous times.

One does not reach the office of prime minister of the largest empire the world has ever seen while being as naïve as chamberlain was presented to be, the idea is simply ridiculous. I’m saying this before watching the video but I’m guessing the video agrees with me in being less vindictive towards Chamberlain.

I never realized till today how the international elites were walking in sync between America and England. As an American I understand the need for a civil rights act, America beginning with a slave population turned free with the 1965 Legislation. England had such a small minority of immigrants, there was no need to pass a race relations Act, I guess the plan to dilute the white race was already well on it's way in 1965

There was no realistic military option for Chamberlain to defend Czechoslovakia with British forces at the time of the Munich conference in 1938. Britain was a major naval power with no military presence on continental Europe while Czechoslovakia was a land-locked country bordering Germany. Only the French Army could have provided help to Czechoslovakia. So it was really up to Édouard Daladier and not Neville Chamberlain to decide whether to help Czechoslovakia or not.

Churchill was an A-hole, through and through, because just like the rest of the British that think like Churchill, they spent money desperately trying to tarnish a good man's name to make themselves look good. Neville Chamberlain had his head on straight; he wanted peace and prosperity and almost single-handedly pulled the United Kingdom out of the recession in the early 20th century.

ULTIMATELY IT BOUGHT CRUCIAL TIME AND ADDED READINESS for the war that was to come. Sudetenland was quite a very sad collateral unfortunately but absolutely no one was going to change Hitler's mind either way. Churchill and his blood-thirsty gang were quick to blame Chamberlain and History continues to be most unfair to Chamberlain who had to play the cards he was dealt with. *I'm so happy Netflix made "Munich The Edge of War". He has a chance to stop a war that resulted of 10s of millions would die. Wouldn’t we all try to stop that. I think the world worked out the way the momentum of things was shifting. But I agree is still an accomplished man.
