Yes, I remember these projectors quite well. In the late 1960s and 1970s I've lost count of how many films I've seen, mainly at school, using one of these projectors. I figure Bell and Howell made more than a million of them in those days. Another feature I remember was the optical sound track on one side of the film.

Hi guys, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I just obtained some 7" reels and the ELMO model above. I set it up as shown and began viewing the first reel. it worked well as a movie - then for some reason the vision in the viewing screen changed to vertical not horizontal as I rolled the film. Now it shows like individual photos not film. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong please? Peter

Thank you for bringing back many warm memories of countless school classroom movies. My favorite such memory is of our Spanish teacher, Mr. Russo, who spoke multiple languages. He would play parts of the movies backwards where the audio sounded like an alternate word in English or Spanish. The one I remember is “ola,” backwards sounded somewhat like “hello” (technically more like “aloe). It was quite the endearing quality in a teacher who would mix learning with levity. Also, I was taught to read by Dr. Seuss, so I tended to “hear” such things myself. I will now search for another learning tool from the last century: we also watched quite a few “filmstrips” in my elementary school years; these were shown while a vinyl phonograph record was played along to narrate. A few intrepid teachers would add use a knob on the phonograph to pause playback to add their own commentary or illustrations. Edit: I remembered to subscribe! 😅 Thanks again!

I don’t suppose anyone knows the difference between the various Agfa sensor pocket models. There’s nothing on the web, & every video I see on them is silent & says nothing about the cameras.

Personally, I would've liked to own a reel-to-reel projector, but nowadays, you would have to rent film reels of movies, TV shows, etc., which isn't feasible. Nowadays, I own a projector, hooked up to a DVD player and I own a DVD collection. Sometimes, we have to go with the next best thing!!!

This units gave off a cool aroma and when the teacher pulled these into the class everybody got excited.

Just fired up the old projector. It started to smell like burning rubber. Opened the rear and found the belt was off alignment. Fixed that based on your photo of the machine parts but the light bulb and the spindle above the bulb is so hot feels like it would catch on fire! I wonder if this is normal or if I could retrofit it and remove the bulb and replace it with a different one?

I noticed that there appears to be only one claw responsible for advancing the film in my Canon S-2. I am curious if this is a standard feature for this model or if it's possible that one of the claws may have been damaged or chipped?
