This is not about getting the answer to this simple math question, it's about explaining a mathematical process.

People ripping on the guys explanation don’t understand the teaching of concepts. He’s not teaching you this specific equation. He’s teaching that you need to balance equations. Yet everyone is like “EZ not hard at all”. Well no shit. It’s the ASVAB. Maybe the content isn’t for you.

There is no excuse to not know how to do this. All you need to do is instead of saying “X” say “what”. “What minus 6 equals 0.” Literally just saying that out loud makes the answers painfully obvious

You can always just plug in a 7, a 5, and a 6 and see what you get for each.

The way I’ve always solved these problems is I think to myself how many times does 9 go into 60? About 6.666 times (9x6=54. 60-54=6. 6/9=0.666. 6+0.666=6.666) Then you look at the multiple choice answers and see which percentage goes into 100% exactly 6.666 times. 15% goes into 100 exactly 6.666 times. (15x6=90. 100-90=10. 10/15=0.6666. 6+0.6666=6.6666). So the answer is 15%. No need to do long division

No. You're taking way too damn long to solve the problem. Any number that is subtracted from another number and equals 0 is that number. For example x - 5= 0. Therefore x is 5. Your way is the long way.

The two lowest numbers are automatically out. Then If you notice the calculation is about half of her income. Just look for the amount that is closest to double which leaves c. D is just too far out.

OMG, 6 is 10% with 3 remaining which is 1/2 of 6, so add 1/2 of 10% to 10%, so 15%. That took like 3 seconds in my head.

Okay, so I wanted to know who this question was for and why it was being asked. For those of us outside of the USA this is a practice question for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. That's the United States Military. It seems simple and it is, It's just an aptitude test. I looked and some of the other questions in the math portion are for things I have totally forgotten how to do, this video just chose to highlight one of the easier questions that, let's be honest, if you're struggling with you're a rifleman at best and that's if you even make it at all. The test is used to determine a persons applicability to certain fields in the US Army so it needs to have some low bars to clear so the drop outs can have a career.
