I got one of these old USB 2 fireproof enclosures for free (2022). A contractor had used it for 8 years for small payroll and job files. The little cooling fan needed to be replaced, so I replaced it. I am a computer repair guy and hard drive collector, lol. It's a very interesting drive. USB 2 is slow, but for small files, or 'overnight backups', it's OK. I'd be inclined to use a WD Green drive, or something that can handle poor airflow. The drive in this enclosure doesn't get much airflow. An SSD would, of course, be even better. The internals are clever, the unit is heavy. It's made of a material similar to ceramic. The drive, as you saw in the video, is in a 'sealed by goop' anti-static bag. SATA. OK, hard drives and their enclosures are interesting :) Have a nice day.

Can’t release the locking lugs on the Mosler cabinet. It’s open, but I can’t release the locking lugs to use the change key.

Why does my lock only have one number? I go around a few times to clear it then left to the first number then right until i feel it hard to turn, while hard to turn, thats what turns the lever inside. So how come mine only has 1 number and not 3?

You say insert the change key and turn clockwise 1/4 turn but you turn it counterclockwise.

Walked a guy through this, but he didn't want me to know the combination. I was on the other side of a wall. It ended with him saying he wasnt sure the key was in all the way... and it fell out, while he was setting the combination. Lucky the door was still open. Customers!

With that position of the camera, It really looks like your change key pops "counterclockwise"(or to the left) .

I don't find this to be a good editorial. You don't mention that there are 2 index marks or how many times to rotate between numbers. My lock is a group 2 36 MM. I would like better instructions on this lock, if you don't mind. Thank you, Danny.

Hello, I have a safe that I toss the combination away. I watch you change the combo on yours. Is your a three number combo or a four? I believe mine has 4 and it will stop and not go any further like #85 and then I can turn the latch to open it. Right now I turn the dial from #85 to 0 and use the key to lock the dial from turning, Then when I want to open it I use the key to unlock the dial and turn it to #85 and it stops and I can turn the latch to open it. I have the change combo key to change the combo but had misplaced the instructions sheet of how to do it. But after watching your video it looks like you had a 3 number combo and the last number was 35 and after you change it and re-enter it, you look like it stop at a different number and stopped.

Where can I Get a clear mount like that?

The changing index is the line at the 11 o'clock position. After the door is open inter the existing combination to the changing index. Enter new combination at the changing index too.

at 2:04 the voiceover says to enter the combo by turning the knob *LEFT* (or *counter-clockwise* ) while the video shows the operator turning the knob to the *RIGHT* (or *CLOCKWISE*). Just saying...

I love it when the safe lock jams up when numbers below 15 are selected for 3rd number.

what if you dont have the old code how do you change it?

After 3 years of VERY little use, the finger pad combo no longer functions. I have to use the key. I contacted the company and apparently the customer support is pretty awful. I will follow up in the next few days.

The company I worked for in 2000 bought used fireproof cabinets for our inspection area. It was more than white dust I saw coming out of these cabinets. It was a lot of white powdery looking stuff and I called in the Safety person and told her my concerns, but she dismissed it and she wouldn't let me call in the EPA or the Fire dept. I don't think this person was concerned with out safety, but was more concerned with the safety of the Fortune 500 company that we worked for.

An embarrassing blunder. "Insert the change key and turn clockwise." Clocks must run backwards in your house. You turned the key from the 9 o'clock position to the 6 o'clock position. See: 1:03 to 1:06 It is clockwise only when viewed THROUGH the safe door, i.e. from the FRONT of the door, not from the back where one is doing the actual key turning.

Thanks, I believe we have achieved our goal! We also appreciate the constructive comments and candor on the clockwise vs. counterclockwise - you are correct, depends on your view from the front or back of the lock.

Great video, thanks; much more clear than S&G's instructions. One error, though: The narrator says "insert the change key and turn clockwise one-quarter turn." He then proceeds to turn the change key counter-clockwise. (This part starts at 0:55). Of course, he could be thinking that it's clockwise viewed from the front of the lock, as if one had X-ray vision, but viewed from the side of the lock where the hole for the change key is viewed, the change key is turned counter-clockwise.
