Add USB-C to your ST-LINK
Is it just me, or does the ST-LINK need a connector upgrade? I mean, it's 2024, and everyone is using USB-C now. Personally, I hate working with USB-C connectors, but it's time to dive in. In this video, we'll talk about USB-C and show a cool hack for adding USB-C to the ST-LINK V2. The ST-LINK V2 is still pretty good for programming, so let's get to it!

What is the best calipers to use?
zhlédnutí 139Před dnem
In this video, I compare three types of calipers: Electronic, Dial Indication, and Vernier. Calipers are incredibly useful in electronics for quickly measuring higher tolerance parts, such as trace or board widths and enclosure clearances. I discuss the pros and cons of each type and how they can help you achieve more accurate measurements in your projects. Calipers Simulation link: maheshkurmi...
Best DIY Dry Erase Whiteboard

#dryerase #whiteboard #diy Hey everyone, If you're like me, you sometimes sort your ideas on paper or in a visual way. If you haven't tried this yet, when you're experiencing a brain freeze, grab a dry-erase whiteboard and start drawing. You'll want a high-quality whiteboard that erases well and can withstand cleaning with chemicals to remove ink. Cheap whiteboards often scratch and stain with ...
Upgrade your ST-Link with a mini-B USB Jack

#ST-LINK #stm32 #firmware #electronics #electronics I love the USB stick-style mini ST-LINK programmer/debuggers, but I dislike the USB-A jack they use. In this video, I have modified the ST-LINK to use a mini-USB jack. It seems like every time I turn around, I need a different USB cord. I know USB-C was supposed to fix everything, but that jack is fairly difficult to work with as it is the "ul...

#firmware #programming #electronics #stm32 My favorite programmer/debugger has been fried. At some point, you may short out the power pin (3.3V) on your ST-LINK programmer/debugger, causing it to stop working. Here's how you can fix it and get it running again. In this video, we discuss the internals of the ST-LINK and identify the part that might be fried. Replacing it is not very difficult, s...
Stackable Banana Connectors Everyone Should Have (Cheap Ones Work Fine)

So many different types of connectors are needed all the time! Frustrating, right? Well, banana jacks in the lab or DIY shop can help with this. By putting banana jacks on one end and other connector types on the other, you can connect to virtually anything you want. This is where you need inexpensive but usable banana jacks. Just search for "JZDZ 10pcs 4mm Banana Plug Pin Copper Electrical Con...
Open-Source Logic Analyzer Software: Sigrok Pulseview
zhlédnutí 199Před měsícem
You can use your cheap logic analyzer clone or genuine tool with open-source software! Someone in the comments mentioned that Sigrok could be an alternative to other proprietary logic analyzer software. Sigrok (Pulseview) is super cool and worked pretty well as you will see. On Windows, there is a small pitfall to the installation. It also works on Linux. I hope this video is informative!
Mastering Soldering: Small Electronic Parts with a Soldering Iron
zhlédnutí 653Před měsícem
In the last soldering video I showed how to solder small parts using a stovetop for heat. Now I am applying heat directly to the parts using a soldering iron. This is more time-consuming and also does not make pretty solder joints as would reflowing in an oven or stovetop. Here is just another way to make electronics. Here are some of the sound effects and video clips used in this video. Music:...

This tool can save you time. It doesn't matter if you are a meat cutter, engineer, or plumber the right tools can make the difference. For an engineer, a logic analyzer is like an otoscope to a doctor. Check out this inexpensive logic analyzer that is available on Aliexpress, Amazon, and other online sites. Using a few examples we demonstrate the capabilities of this small gadget.

Listen, I get it. When you start out you don't have any money. Saleae offers the software open source, so yes you have every right to use it, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. At least acknowledge that fact and encourage people that if they do have the money, you know, help support the people that make the software you use because if they go out of business because everyone goes and buys cheap chinese ip theft in hardware format, well, then the software it all depends on stops. You are doing the same thing that every major corpo CEO in the western world did that screwed over every job that actually made something that was once in the Western world: but they do it so cheap over in China. They use slave labor too, yeah it's cheap. And I mean, there is a reason you don't use sigrok yeah? Yeah.

Yes, I did look up the markings and also was able to confirm that the pinout was the same by looking at the PCB.

Its so cool of you to use saleae's software with a cheap chinese clone of their own hardware, thus taking money away from their company that they spent time to R&D'd and write it for you... thumbs up.

      @mycrostartelectronics Před měsícem

I've been feeling bad about not supporting Saleae. I may try to get some of their products ordered at our company since they work well. For personal projects that I have not made money on I just use the clones. I suspect that they will make their software only work with genuine hardware using some embedded license key or something.
