In the 70ies when we could still receive netherland TV in Germany this was my favourite show. Loved the theme. Like Isaac Hayes theme from Shaft ❤. Got me hooked in my teens for Soul, R&B and Funk.

The original show was named “Toma “. When the original actor quit they brought in Blake. I guess that he suggested that they do a totally different show. Blake was the original choice to play the lead in “The Rockford files”. Most people don’t know that the show was actually set in New Jersey.

Years ago I saw a doc, that insinuated that the star of this show was involved in a murder. I don't recall that much and the details are vague. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm not saying it's true, I can hardly remember it. I never watched this show much as a kid, however, I saw the guy in"In Cold Blood", that was quite a movie based on the Truman Capote book. I remember being blown away by that. Very hard hitting.
