Lived in the dwellings h block salt of the earth people 😊
because my mother worked as a waitress upstairs at the townley arms i was allowed to sit behind the bar to listen to the silver dollars when i was 11 years old. my dad bought me a guitar from their guitarist, stan nicholson i think,im now 74 and still playing!!
Thank you so much for this. Derek is my Da. He is thrilled with this. Thank you to the students also. You’ve made an old man and his family very happy ❤
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Wonderful to keep these memories alive - this is how virtual reality headsets should be used ... to walk people down their street as it used to be
ken manning is my great uncle
My mother was born in the dwelling many many moons ago. And we as her children where mostly brought up there, it used to be a canny place. Then it went right down hill. I dont live over there now But still got loads of happy memories 😢😊
Good God, the Silver Dollars.
Nice 👍
Few family members in there
Both my dad and uncle Eric and Tom Little,Eric is the tall kid at the back, hes still has the bible he got that day, sadly Tom died of covid 4 years ago(Salvation Army photo)
Very interesting , my dad went down the pit when he was 14 years old . He was down there till he went into the army (Blackwatch ) and went to France in '39. His dad and two brothers also were in the mines all lived in Winlaton . Dad settled in London after the war but I used to go on holidays in the '40's and '50's . I have traveled 7 times to that area to remember my childhood memories from New Zealand to find family . Many cousins whom I have never seen still live there. Dads name was John Robert Davison his dad was called George and his two brothers were George and Leslie . I would love to go again but at 81 I do not fancy the plane ride now. 😃
A few of my dads mates died, one of the wright brothers, can’t remember his name,my dad writing a book, hope someone remembers the family,it would make the old buggers day

Great memories brought back watching this, Chopwell a lovely village with lovely people
Chopwell will always be your home and you will always be a Chopwell bloke 👍
My cousin used to go to choppwell school he was captain of the football team
my nanna and granda Graham lived at 22 Coquet Street
I was born in Wansbeck Street
I lived there back in the 50s my ant Bessie and uncle Jim Taylor, Bella and Billy hadden there had a son named Ronald hadden
Brings back memories of my childhood and youth spent in Weardale, it was a decent cycle ride from where we lived in Durham.
And they are trying to tell us the climate is dangerous today. Net Zero, Biggest scam in history
Chopwell Colliery once known as little Moscow, they have Karl Marx on their Banner. Workers of all lands unite.
My Grandpa drove a colliery train through Percy main, in between being a trawlerman, I love hearing these people telling their real stories, we should listen to the older people, they always have something interesting to say. Time well spent ❤
I enjoyed that. Hamsterley and Chopwell are still a tight community but there’s a lot of outsiders and I was one of them 20 years ago. Things have certainly changed and the past few years reminds me that despite not knowing each other the way we did in past generations , I believe we all still have the same values at heart.
Precious recollections..love it 👍. All closed as a result of the globalist European project. We are lucky we haven’t been converted to the fishing and farming sector of Europe. Germany was earmarked to be the industrial power house. We may yet live to see the veil lifted on these psychopaths.

Winlaton mill is the best countryside in miles. Pure bloody gold.
