My Gibson les Paul standard 2008 doesn’t stay in tune, I’ve ha it professionally set up multiple times and made upgrades to the locking tuners and tailpiece but has made no difference. It really is an absolute pile of shit

80s metal stereotyping ruined guitars like the V for me for decades. Some may have thought the hair metal era was cool, but I just found it cheesy AF. I would have been embarrassed to be seen with a V up until just a few years ago.

$300 for beginners to $750 guitar for intermediate, then just upgrade your pickups. Getting a good set up with intonation and action is key and choosing the neck profile you are most comfortable with. Strings and pickups makes a bigger difference in your sound than rare hardwoods and fancy inlays

Anything that’s $1,000 or more is a waste of money because for multiple reasons 1. A more expensive guitar doesn’t make you play like a pro 2. You can allways up grade a similar type of guitar to the one you want but can’t afford or make it better 3. It’s not about the guitar it’s about you fingers that give you your tone

It depends on the type of guitar, and why you are buying it. Collectors can spend into the millions. A decent functional guitar might start at $700.00 to $3500.00. Acoustic is less expensive than electric. Can you find an inexpensive gem? Yes, but it's more difficult than saving for a decent ax.

Jimmy Page wrote a majority of their songs on a cheap ass Sears and Robuck Harmony branded acoustic. A Harmony, same as an Airline. Yep, that intro for the Stairway to Heaven intro. Play what inspires you. Who gives a poop about brand names. If it sounds good it should inspire you. I know where talking electrics here but the philosophy should remain. The sound is in your imagination linked to your hands and then a good sounding guitar should finish seal the deal.

For me the best is the Gibson ❤ I also own a custom shop fender tele ! Don’t ask me why it’s in my flesh, my soul… the Gibson les Paul special is really special she deserves her name 😂. For me the lespaul special is the Gibson telecaster ….

Thank you for an interesting and quite informative comparison. Both sound good and both have a very similar tonal character. The Les Paul has a slightly deeper sound, rounder highs, and more lows, but you'll still cut them off on the recording. Flying V has more of an in-your-face sound, a little less depth, but it's a more open sound. Low frequencies are more distinct, without unnecessary booming. It seems to me that if you compare it with the SG, there will be no differences in sound. Considering the similarity of the sound characteristics of these guitars, it is quite possible to turn one into the other by equalization, and no one will be able to tell them apart on the recording. The rest of the difference is the look and feel when playing these guitars.
